I know this sounds dumb to most people, but I figure you guys would understand and could help me out.

I have an 03 Qcab 6sp and like it, but would love an 06 megacab auto with exhaust brake, sunroof and dvd.

do I order a 06 or wait to see what comes out in 07?

now I can get 0% for 60 months + FFP Price (thanks scott) + farm rebate not a bad deal. but I would hate to miss out on something new out for the 07s

What do you guys think?

Wait 1 year... 07 is going to be very interesting... And unlike Ford, if Cummins comes out with a new engine in 07, you can bet they will have it right. .

I do not think there will be many changes for the 2500 and 3500 either. I do wonder about the financing though will we see 0%

and the reason I went with a six shooter the last time was the 47 was garbage and exhaust brake was not available with auto ,the 48re was not around long enough to trust it.

whats the chance of the 4500 being available in a megacab with a pick up bed?

Wait for 07. All Heavy Duty trucks are getting the new 6. 7l. That is what I have been reading on several forums. I don't think the 6. 7l is reserved just for the 4500/5500.

There is also a lot of speculation that there will be a new 6sp auto.

I have an '06 on order that is built and is on its way from mexico. I asked this same question on another thread and got several diff opinions.

The engine will be terrific from cummins, its a matter of how dodge messes it up for the first year or so, especially with a new transmission

I aint waitin

With the gearing available I would much rather have the 5. 9 than a 6. 7. Who wants a torquey slow-turning stroker motor with the final drive ratio of the G56 and 3. 73 gears?? Besides I wouldn't want the risk of less smoothness because of high piston speeds and cylinder wear due to higher sidewall loading caused by less than ideal rod angles. Only way to fix that is make the deck higher, but then it wouldn't fit under the hood. Going to 6. 7L makes no sense to me.

I am in the same boat. should I go for the 06 no emissions or wait for more HP/Tq and maybe a 6 speed auto. I would even take a 5. 9 with a new auto.

I am starting to think that I will order 06 with 0%,If they do come out with something good in 07 I will give it a few years to prove itself then look into 08 or 09,Screw it, you only go around once.

Do the smart thing and wait four years. Then you get the best of both worlds: you will know which one has "proven" itself, plus you will be financially smart by bying a used truck with low miles. ;)

Task, I think you nailed it here. That's a sound decision. If they come out and they are great... . buy one then ;)

That's not a bad idea for another reason... 09 is the year the 4th gen is supposed to be introduced.

Traded in the 03 2 x 4, 6sp manual and got a new 06 2500 4 x4 MC, auto flame red. Don't even regret it. Seems that the new one is just what I always wanted; sunroof, DVD, aftermarket Katzkin leather. It is a sweet ride.

Get what you want, seems when 'New" toys first come out they start at high price then start dropping. If the new motor is coming I will guarantee it will come with a premium.

Bought a 05 C6 at 4 under MSRP (fully loaded except navigation) vette last June, they now have the C6 Z06 at a 10 to 20 k premium. When things come out they cost a lot.

How do I get in touch with scott. Need help on discount for new Mega just ordered. Thanks DShapiro. -- email address removed --

Exactly, some of us do dumber things than other of us. But the great lesson is that you CAN teach an ol' dog new tricks :-laf .

I'm going to run my '03 for as long as I can. I'm dying to get rid of the payments and put that money to good use. Maybe I'll be able to afford a few upgrades to keep me from wanting a new truck. Leather, twin turbos, etc...
