Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) To sell or not to sell

I have a 98 12 valve and I now have a new ford work vehicle and the dodge hasn't got much use as a personal vehicle. I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place as to what to do. The best part is that my grandfather wants to buy the truck for a farm truck, (I guess his duramax doesn't make a good farm truck), and I suppose if I have to sell it, he wouldn't be a bad person to sell it to as I can use it and get it back in the future. I guess my question is what would it be worth? 98 12 valve, 5 spd, quad cab 2wd longbed in immaculate condition with 240K miles. It's my baby and its a hard decision for me but maybe the money would be better than a stagnant truck.

For 7K, I'd keep it. I'd imagine farm use could be very hard on a truck and it sounds like yours is too nice to put out to pasture just yet. Plus, who knows if the company truck gig will last. I'd hold on to it.

if it's paid for and space is not a concern id keep it as a toy or oh crap vehicle if nothing else

Not a good time to sell. If you don't need to sell I would keep it. The dealers are giving away new trucks so the market is down on used ones. Fuel is high and everyone is afraid to buy. Not good market conditions. I have two trucks now and can't sell the old one so now I have a work truck and a weekend truck. If its in good condition I wouldn't give it away.

I would keep it. But it should be started and drove at lees 20 miles every 30 days

Yeah, the only reason that I sold my truck for that price is because I needed a 4wd and had already purchased a replacement truck. If you have a wife, you understand the inability to rationalize two expensive trucks.....

So, if this truck was a 4wd and only had 140,000 on it, what could you expect out of it? Exceptionally clean, no rust, no body damage, etc. I'm thinking of maybe getting one of the 2006 models since they can be picked up cheap now. Would hate to give away my truck to get it though.

Unless your Grandfather has a lot of pavement or gravel roads on his place a 2WD would be pretty worthless as a farm truck from my experience. I've been stuck on the wet grass in the yard several times... ... ...
