Kind of got the itch again to do something, and I have been thinking about stacks. I think I would like the dual 4" chrome with turn outs and the heat sheilds. Guess I need some info on where to look for parts and kits. I have seen the kit Stylin Consepts offers, but they do not do a very good job of showing or telling what all is included in the kits. It does say you need only one hole in the bed floor, but that about it.

I pull a GN trailer and have a aux fuel tank and tool box, looks like I would have to move everything back 4-6 inches to allow room for the kit, is it worth it?? Does anyone make a kit with stainless steel? Is the noise level much in the cab?? What are the down sides of running stacks? The mufflers come in the stacks, do you guys use them ?? or run stright?? Is water collection a problem?? I have never run this kind of a set up before, and would like some honest opinions. Is there still a drone problem?

if i were you i would contact rob thomas. rob thomas has custom stack kits that you can make how ever you want. his stacks kits are self draining. i used to have a single 4" exhaust and went to 5" stacks and ill never have another truck without them. some people like them and some dont. all trucks are different on the drone. i have a friend that his truck drones at anything above 2100. my truck doesnt have a drone at all. it is louder inside the cab though not a lot but i did notice a difference. with a muffler it will usually take the drone out. i guess the best saying to explain it is to each his own. hope this helps.

i agree with RBratby. stacks are for some, but not all. about 3 months ago i bought a 5" stack system via this website, and i will never own another dodge with out them! i get a slight drone around 2200 rpm, but once all the windows are up its not all that noticable. you'll get compliments all the time "man that sounds like a rig. " deffintley go with stacks.

gotta agree...

I had mine put on in January (typical Pennsylvania winter) and drove the 20-odd miles home with the windows down and the heat cranked. ABSOLUTELY LOVE 'EM! And for what it's worth... I've seen pics of your truck, y-knot, and that truck would look BAD A$$ with some stacks... IMHO.

The downsides? What downsides? Well, there are the times that you want to sit on your tailgate, but you have to wipe the soot off first. And with the windows down and the rear slider open, the "diesel symphony" gets pretty dang loud. I do have a drone when I get over 2000 RPM (especially in 5th)... but not bad enough to make me slow down. :) Whatever you do, make SURE you secure the stacks to the bed with clamps. I ran around for a little over a year 'til I got tired of them clankin' around.

All in all, one of (if not THE) best mods that I've done.

stacks

I have owned two rams so far and I stacked both, I won't own one w/o them IMHO. mine are similar to Rob Thomas's (great minds think alike) and I don't have a water problem with the turnouts. It is definitely louder in the cab but that is how I like it. mine is completely straight piped, you might have to get it muffled a little if you pull heavy or do alot of interstate driving.

I have to admit, I like the way stacks look. But I had to take out the stacks cause I needed the bed space (I've got Scrappy's X truck)

They do sound good and look really good with a box and the smoke level set way up.

My buddy has a Ram with a flat bed and 5" stacks. It looks so good.

Thanks for the reply's. We take a trip up to Silver Lake this week so I'll get to see for the first time how all my mods react to the extra 15,000lbs. I think it's pretty noisy now in the cab, atlease compared to stock exhaust. After this trip I'll have more of a feel for what I may want to do. I wouldn't consider anything except turn-outs, they look good and keep the water to a minimum, also I think I would run with the guards on. The worst part is giving up so much of your bed, guy's that pull GN's or FW's are very limited already. Thanks for the reply's and anyone else that has an opinion let me know what you thing

y-knot like most others that have stacks have said I will have them on my trucks from now on. I have a kit from Rob thomas on this sit and love them very easy to install. I will try and get some pics of the cross bar in the am but have some pics of them in my gallery. Think I should shorten them? Im on the fence.

I just put stacks on my truck for TiM, and love it. I used the rectangular 4X6X3/8 th tubing.

I got some grate turbo noise at idle and going down the road, but I don't have the deep sound I had when I had the factory exhaust on and it just straight piped.

I have 5" turn outs and they are 48" tall. The only problem is the drone I get after I hit 1900 rpm. So I guess I will be looking for a small muffler or resonator to kill the drone.
