Which is the best RV Generator?

Hot Water, Propane or Electric?

Good question, I've been wondering about these. How is the interface with the computer? I want one that I can find/save addresses on my PC (kind of like Yahoo maps) then download to the GPS for easy go to points. I figure this would be easier then any user interface that the GPS could have built in.

OK, I haven't had it long but there is not much computer interface. Just to down load newer maps and update operating system version. I might be wrong but I don't see much more interaction with the computer than that.

There is something like 7 million points of interest built in. It is all touch screen and takes less than 40 seconds to manually enter a destination (multiple destinations obviously take longer). You just press the first letter of the state, then tap your state when it comes up, then first letter of the city, street and then manually push in the street numbers.

Has fastest route, shortest, scenic and a few other's. You can avoid toll roads, save favorite destinations so they come up with one press after they are entered. If you have a bluetooth enable phone you can make hands free calls through the GPS, it will dial for you. It will also use your cell phone to retrieve traffic information and re route you around any delays.

It has a variety of map layouts, views, colors and day and night settings/colors, if you miss a turn it automatically reroutes you the quickest way. I have a turn out of my house that is only about 30 feet long and it still advises me with perfect accuracy. It has a ton of languages and different voices to select from.

Oh yeah you can also preview your route, so you can take in into a motel room at night, enter your destinations and then hit preview and it will drive you along the roads and show you the names so you can get somewhat familiar with the turns before you get there. Although it advises you well enough I don't think you could miss a turn. It even tells you to move into the lane you need to be in so that your prepared.

Hope this long winded spill helps you out, thats all I can think of.

Ebay was the cheapest place I saw, was around $729 with free shipping. Thats for the 700 though which comes with a built in 2. 5G Hard Drive. You can get a 500 for less and a 300 which uses a SD Card for its memory for a little over $300.

I bought this on line it has 10 gig memory for mp3 I put on about 180 cds, it is very easy to use, touch screen, 3d,alot of stuff. It is made by lawerance it is a little bigger then most but I find it much better to see. It is caleed iWay 500. www.gpsonline.com or www.gpsonsale.com dont remember.

For anyone who already has a laptop, consider the Delorme GPS LT-20 with Streets Atlas USA for only $99. 95.

It does door-to-door routing on your laptop screen. . much larger than any handheld GPS unit. The best feature is voice control. Add a $10 headset to the deal, place it on the sun visor and plug only the microphone to the laptop.

I've been using Streets Atlas for quite a few years. I travel all over the country, driving lots of different vehicles. I'm sold and so is everyone that's ridden with me and seen the system at work.

My son is an OTR truck driver and he recently bought one and couldn't be more pleased with it.

A real good stand alone gps is the Garmin c340. It looks a lot like the Tom-Tom. I got it at www.gpsnow.com for $640. Its an upgrade of their c330 which will say "turn right in 400 ft". The c340 will say "turn right at Main street". Its also simple enough to operate that I can do it. FYI - gpsnow also sells the Tom-Tom.

I kind of like the "turn in 200 ft" because then I know when to get ready for a turn without having to look for the street sign. The tomtom shows on the screen in big letters what the next street your turning onto is so I can verify as I'm making my turn, it also just says"turn right" when you are right at your next turn. The distance it warns you a turn is comming is also dependent on what speed your traveling.

Garmin also offers Palmbased GPS. A Palm with GPS unit built in, so you have all the sync features you have with a palm and it saves even your waypoints in your computer when you hotsync the unit! Works great and there is a carmount kit too! Ive modified the carkit to fit a dodgespecific cellphonemount.
