I want to put a Tonneau Cover on my 06 3500 Quab Cab shortbed. I like the Mopar Gullwing offered by the dealer because it allows for entry at the back and from each side behind the cab. I would appreciate any experience or recommendations.

I put an Extang Trifecta Signature series on the wifes truck, it's a really nice looking cover that is a tri-fold and can come off in just a few minutes very easily. I got it from www.realtruck.com they seemed to have the lowest price but sometimes you have to wait a little while.

You don't mention whether you are interested in hard, soft of both... so...

Just put the Truxedo Plus on my 2500. It's a soft rollup with a flush to the top of the box toolbox build in. When the box is closed, unless you do more than glance at it, you don't realize the toolbox is there.

I can leave the 5th in the bed and pull the tonneau over it when not using it and roll it up to use it. All the towing gear goes in the lockable box and there is room for an under box tank if desired.

I like my Truxedo roll-up too. I have an auxiliary fuel tank that I like to keep hidden. I also tow a 5th wheel. It's nice to be able to just roll up the cover when I need bed access, or to load a large item, or for 5th wheel towing. When I disconnect, just roll the cover back over. I never have to remove the cover and store it somewhere, then wish I had it.

There's a wide variety for good reason. Hard covers have advantages of greater strength and security while trading off convenience. Figure out your needs and get a cover to suit.

Tonneau cover

Should have been more specific. I want a hard cover to match the truck. Sorry, this is my first truck and I'm technically challenged, but I love it. Particularly pulling my 34' Airstream.

Not to hijack this thread But

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread but for those of you running the tuxedo cover in winter climates how does it work? I'm worried that the material would stretch due to snow and ice weight. Has then shown to be a problem?

I have had my TRUXEDO for almost 5 years now. In Indy we get nice wet snow. IT stretches out some but the auto tension things up front give for that. My problem is that after 5 years of rolling it up and closing it my velcro is not as tight as it used to be. I don't know if you can contact TRUXEDO and order new velcro or not. But saying all that I love this cover. Just as what was said above it is nice to have it and just roll it up when you need to haul something big. -Jason

JOdell,

Yes just get ahold of Truxedo, they will take good care of you.

For original post, the paint to match fiberglass are the only ones I know of that you can get color match to your truck. You may also want to look at undercover if you want a hard cover but want to easily remove and reinstall it. It only comes in black but I have sold a lot of them and I have not found a color that I did not like the black cover with.

I love my Undercover tonneau. I have had it for over a year now and it looks just like new inside and out. Very easy to remove and will support more weight than the Snuglid XL that I had for a short while without worrying about scratching, etc. Also much cheaper than the Snuglid.

I also have the Truxedo cover and when the velcro didn't hold well I contacted them and they sent me new velcro part that attaches to the truck rails. 20 mins to change out and good as new. They really stand behind the lifetime warrenty and I didn't have to try to find any paper work to get the new parts. Still looks good after 4 years and snow, desert sun and alot of rain.

Heck, if you want to match the Airstream you only have on choice: http://www.diamondbackcovers.com

I have a silver 2006 2500 and a 27'Safari. That's one long silver train heading down the highway (but not as long as yours!). It turns a lot of heads too, with the ATV parked on top of the Diamondback cover! :D

I know, I need a picture. I'll have the whole rig decked out for a Skeet match in Spring Lake, NC at the end of the month. I'll try to get a few pictures then.

I just e-mailed them yesterday and they sent new verlcro strips out to me today. WONDERFUL service. -Jason I really like that Diamond Back cover. That would be nice to have for my ATV and bicycle's when traveling. -Jason
