Has anyone out there had any experience with Downey SST Tonneau covers ? I got one that is being a pain in the backside. Doesn't fit right, keeps coming unsnapped, and I am told by Downey's customer service that the material batch that mine came from they have had some problems(shrinking & cracking). I am still waiting to hear back from the president of Downey where to take it back to locally, so they can return it to the factory. I would take it back to where I bought it, but they blew me off and said there was nothing wrong with the cover :mad: .

Anyway to the point what good or bad experiences has anyone had out there with Downey Products tonneau covers and their customer service ? And should I trust them to come thru ? So far my experience with them and their product/retailer is not too good. :--)

I bought mine online and spoke to the president of the

web store that carries truck stuff. He carried various brands of covers and all were within $40 of each other. He recommened the Downey SST and I said that I had not heard much about them. He then stated that he could have any of them and has the Downey on his truck and holds up well in the North, so I purchased mine approx. 1 1/2 years ago and could not be happier. A friend of mine has one on his Powerchoke and loves his also.

I would try and get another. Maybe you just got a "bad" one.

Just my 2 cents!!!!

Sorry I cannot help with the Downey cover, but I had a Lund cover that still fit like do-do after three attempts. They bought it back (through the retailer) and paid all my shipping charges. At least they had good customer service.

This cover is made at Yankton,S. D. Truxedo is there better one. 800-474-8756 is there ph. #. A lot of them sold in the midwest!!

Snaps and cold weather do not agree. Snaps cannot adjust for the cold temperature shrinkage of the vinyl fabric.

JPS tried to point you to <a href=http://www.truckhyde.com/>Truck Hyde</a> or <a href=http://www.truxedo.com/>Truxedo</a> covers. They along with <a href=http://www.accesscover.com/>Access</a> or <a href=http://www.accesscover.com/>Literider</a> (sold by Geno's garage) all us hook and loop or Velcro to zip it down.

I prefer an Access cover as the rails are sloped and it is easier to zip the velcro if you have bed rails, too.

I'm with JPS. The Truxedo is the way to go. The Access covers are nice, and I will agree the sloped rails are convienient, but I chose the Truxedo becasue of a few features I think make it a better cover. Both are top quality covers.

These suggestions don't solve your problem. If you are able to return your Downey and are considering a Truxedo or an Access let me know. A friend of mine ownes an accessories shop in Allendale. He got me a great price on my Truxedo.

I am STILL waiting on a responce from Downey, They KNOW they have a problem with the batch of material my cover was made from and yet they are making me jump through their hoops. I am going to buy another type of cover, most likely a hard top this time. The president of Downey was supposed to get back with me with a local dealer to send mine back to be checked :confused: , that was Friday, & no word yet from anyone at Downey. :--) :-{} :-{}
