hi everyone,

i am seriously having issuses... :{

my truck started to do some slipping in and out of lock-up a while back, i took it to my local trans shop and they said it was TPS, code and everything.

so for 500$ i got a new TPS and it fixed nothing. still slips in and out of lock-up. so they take the pan off and it has clutch matrial in it, they tell me its from converter and interal clutchs. :{

so baiscly they tell me that my transmission is toast... :eek: i had had a valvebody and new converter put in about a year ago. at least 30k ago. i have a fair amount of power but i tow nothing, smoke hemis thats about it...

So i have them build me a billy badass transmission, new everything, beefy everything... 4000$ :{

today was install day, {very excited} they call me up and tell me that they have put new trans in and the problem is aggravated worst!!!!!!! basicly they don't know what is wrong... . :eek:

they want to keep it and try to figure it out but i am loseing faith... did i even need to get this trans??? i drove the old one for about 5k with the trans locking in and out waiting for them to build this new one...

i fear elec problems, all i know is that i have what i think to be a bad wiper motor from last winter that some snow came off my roof and hit the wipers and blew the fuse. now if i put in a new fuse it blows right off, could it be connected??? i have not replaced the wiper motor because i have been try to pay for all this trans stuff.....

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! :{

Have they tried resetting the TPS/APPS yet? Geez They replaced it without resetting?? Crooks if they did that!

If the problem still persists after the reset method then you need to take it to Dodge for them to reflash the PCM... ... ... ...

It could also be a needed electrical noise filter but try the simple stuff first... .

Go to the 911 forum and hit onto:" Trans has fallen and won't get up" and have them try the method I suggested- first... . (it tells you how to do the reset method. . )

And keep us updated... .....

oh yeah, 500$ for TPS, told me it was a dealer item only... . :rolleyes:

pardon my inexperience, but what is the APPS?? how does one reset that??

if i call up my local dodge dealer are they going to know what reflashing the PCM is?? I guess i don't??

thank you all for all the input, this is really killing me... . :(

where does a noise filter go??? thank you all!!!!!

Oh man I'm sorry!! I sent you to another thread!! Go back to the 911 Forum and look for transmission Problem by 99CTD- post # 9 is what your exactly looking for it explains the procedure- again I appologize for sending you to wrong thread!!

But don't bother with the cleaning of grounds- it's not what your doing in that procedure- just follow the steps in post # 9... .

and get back to us.

When I had my transmission totally redone by DTT I had problems with it, it wouldnt go out of lock up, or into overdrive, so I took it back the box that the trans is hooked up to was bad, the trans has a limp/safe mode to when something goes wrong it wont shift out, it is wired in with the ECM, I dont know what trans internals were put in your trans, other than what you have said, I had a recall on the truck about having the ECM reflashed, I dont know if that is your problem? just an idea, trying to help.

Did you have the Engine Control Module reflashed or the Power Control Module reflashed?

And to keep the converter from locking while in limp mode your supposed to cut the orange wire at the Pcm located on the passenger side firewall not the Ecm that is located on the drivers side of engine block... .....

And I believe the recall reflash is for something different?

I beleive it was the ECM it was done by the dealer when I had the second lp installed under warranty, what is the difference between the 2 ECM and PCM sorry to be asking such a dumb question I just want to be on the right track.

so i had to beg and pled with the trans shop today to call DTT... they did not even know what a noise filter was... . didn't want to call DTT at all. :-{} they think it may be my bad wiper motor :rolleyes: i don't see how its related.

where does a noise filter go?? can i do it myself?? they seemed scared of it...

i just feel like if it's this 37$ noise filter why did i need this 4000$ new trans??? 500$ TPS??? :confused: i had a new converter and valve body in the other one already, had to give it all up in core... .

told them procedure on reseting TPS this morning, they had not tryed that, they said it might have helped a little... . :rolleyes:

bummin rides from buddies... .

thax guys...

Uhhhhh- You CAN do the reset method yourself Bartman#1- it's very easy to do... ... ...

I would have done that after the wrenches were put down- before the test drive, but that's just me... ... ... ... .

Just wtf does a windshield wiper motor have t - forget it- that doesn't matter-

Try the reset deal- make a printcopy of post # 9 in Thread-transmission Problem see what happens..... we'll go from there if needed- you can even do the electrical noise filter yourself- but you might just have to go to dodge and have them do the reflash, but try the easier things first (that are cheap).

i have not even seen my truck yet. i called them from work this morning and asked if they had reset the TPS yet, they had not, so i told them the steps from the thread, they did it any the said the difference in test rides was minimal at best.

they never even heard of the noise filter, where does it go on the truck??

i had them call DTT so that they would know all i do, should hear more in am.

very frustrated...

how much is a reflash???$$$

Instuctions come with the filter.

If you can follow instructions and solder with a electic pencil type it is a breaze!

You can call DTT!

1-866-504-4001

It's toll free.

Agree with the guys above, call DTT, at least they're known for helping people vice some of the other companies.

I am so sorry I didn't go with them and went with what I did because of the flashier ads.

so its been there over a week, i have to told them to call DTT, but they tell me they do but get "no answer" i've called them two times and got someone each time, didn't talk to them much cause i need them to tell the trans shop... . :rolleyes:

so the trans shop has replaced the valve body because they thoght that it might be faulty, this is in my new trans! :confused: it's brand new... same problem as the old one... . :rolleyes: no change to speak of...

so now they want to take it to the dealer, friday... . and have the pcm flashed, i guess that is like a big reset button????what that going to run me... :confused: they told me if thats not it i might need a new pcm... . HUH??? they don't even want to hear about a noise filter... . all but laugh at me... :eek:

It's all just killing me now... i miss my truck... i need my truck... i got hemis to smoke...

they have had that thing hooked up to every flow tool, they have... i guess i feel like i did not even need this trans, they have no idea whats up, and i am going to have a mint involeved... i couls have made it a NV4500 buy now..... 0-problems...

i have not givin any $ yet expet 500$ for the TPS i don't think i needed...

Help Me!!!!!!!! I need to figure it out cause they can't... ... ... ... :(

Thank You All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bartman :{

So why don't you call Bill yourself and talk to him? He is very willing to help anyone. So quite crying and call him. SNOKING

I Agree call Bill at DTT

The most straight up and helpful guy that I have met. Would not even consider selling me a noise filter (BTW it only cost about $45 including shipping) until I checked a few things out for him. When the filter arrived I took the afternoon off to install it. Well it took longer to get the air filter box off and find a good place to mount it than to install it and I spent the afternoon riding around town with a slick shifting transmission!!!!!

I will call him in the a. m. , i have talked to dtt and they said noise filter, but the shop does not want to listen to me, say they need to do there own procedures and that baiscly they don't need help from the internet... ... :-{}

sorry im "crying" but weeks without you truck and nothing poitive from the other side is a bit frustrateing... . $$$$$$

Just sucks.....

i'll call him .....

i should have him call them... ...

Sounds like the shop is full of people that are not too bright. The noise filter is a legit fix and has worked for many of us. Tell those clowns working on your truck that a couple of your "internet" buddies could fix that rig in a couple hours :p Resetting the APPS is also a legit fix as well. I have a list that Dave G sent me and never got past those two items cause they did the trick. Sorry you got stuck with Yahoos fixing your truck :(
