checked codes of 02 2500 that would not make power till warm

0216 fuel inj pump timing failure

0460 fuel level no change over miles

1623 dtc detected in ecm or pcm.

what do it say?

Are you sure that last one wasn't P-1693 (not P-01623)? If so, that's nothing to worry about... just the ECM indicating a DTC was set in the PCM or vise versa.

P-0460 FUEL LEVEL UNIT NO CHANGE OVER MILES

When Monitored: Engine running and fuel level either below 15% or above 85% of capacity.

Set Condition: The PCM sees low fuel, less than 15%, for more than 120 miles or fuel level does not change by at least 14% for more than 250 miles.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

PHYSICALLY DAMAGED/DEFORMED/OBSTRUCTED FUEL TANK

FUEL LEVEL SENSOR [failure]

P-0216 FUEL INJECTION PUMP TIMING FAILURE

When Monitored: Ignition on.

Set Condition: Engine Speed >300 RPM, Fuel command 5mm3/str, Timing command must be within a certain window

POSSIBLE CAUSES

OTHER DTC’S PRESENT

FUEL INJECTION PUMP

FUEL INJECTION PUMP GEAR NOT ALIGNED

FUEL FILTER RESTRICTED

TRANSFER PUMP INLET LINE RESTRICTED

From the above codes, I wonder if this isn't a fuel restriction problem... possibly the inlet screen in the tank is blocked.

Test the fuel pressure at all operating conditions when both cold and warm.

Has the fuel filter been replaced recently?

thanks for info. after looking at price of vp44 and the super pricey FASS pump what is the reasonable way to go?

Before you decide to spend so much money on something that may not even correct the problem, you should figure out what's wrong first. The problem may be as simple as a weak lift pump.

Has the fuel filter been replaced?

Has the fuel pressure at the VP44 been measured?

Has the Intake Air Temp Sensor been replaced?

Has the Coolant Temp Sensor been replaced?

the 02-2500 is my neighbor's. he bought it 6mts ago,it is a daily driver and it seems its only problem is cold natured any time it's started after sitting 8 hours. it does not smoke white or run bad when warm, other than having to poke along for 2 miles with no power at just a crawl till its warm. i am the only one thinking he has a problem even though it shows codes. i would not start it again till i had a pressure guage on the fuel line but that's just me. will cool it and see what happens. thanks again sherm.
