too hot+ too much pressure

my Dad hooked an electric dump hoist up on my truck and the oil pressure and temp guages tweeked! the oil pressure is in the last box. (high)and the temp will read all the way up to over heating as the truck warms up then will stay high but rise and drop with the thermostats cycle??? whats up guages toasted or sending units? oil sender new 2-3weeks ago about 5 days prior to the hoist. help!!!!

Check your body grounds. This high amprege pump you are using might have took the body grounds out which can cause all sorts of gage and light problems.



The main body ground is the small wire coming off the battery neg terminal. It is bolted down onto the raditor support. Remove the wire nad clean under it with sand paper. The should be a wire from the engine to the fire wall. Maybe. If not run one from the engine to the body.



Make sure the grounds on the pump are frame mounted and not body mounted.

took the dump off today. guages still tweeked. I'll look into the ground problem thanks a bunch. makes sence since the ground on the hoist was mouned to the wood of the flat bed. the problem started when he hooked it up. I was hoping it would also go with it but no luck. I'll check out the ground any other ideas????

Your dash grounds is under the dash behind where the cargo light switch is mounted. Or at least my 93 is located there. Right side of steering column lower part of dash behind the plastic cover.





Putting that much amperage threw the system could cause damage. Whenever you install high amp devices. The ground should go straight to the battery or engine block. The body grounds are small and not made to handle the 300 amps that the pump you had uses when running.

was the ground on the battery (a little???maybe) but mainly the ground on the radiator thanks again

If you go to use that pump agin. Ground it to the frame. Then get another heavy battery cable with eyelets on both ends. Run it from the engine block to the frame.



The engine is rubber mounted. That is why I said to add a cable from the block to frame.



I am glad to hear it didn't take out any parts.
