Hey guys!

This July my dad and I bought a '95 3500 4x4 with a NV4500 and 4. 10 gears. It was used to pull a 5th wheel flatbed for around 300,000 miles. I'm not for sure but when we bought it the factory torque plate had been slid enough to make some smoke.

Now I plan to drive it to and from school, and pull a race car every weekend during the summer

So far I haven't done any serious BOMBing except for exterminating the muffler and cat, blocking off the waste gate, adding a boost guage and soon a pyrometer, and having the plate slid forward for 1000 miles and now back to close to factory.

This Christmas Dad bought me a Diesel Performanc Propane Injection system to try to get rid my 13-15 mpg troubles and increase towing power. Maybe I shouldn't even install this? #ad

Now that my throw out bearing is going out I would like to put in a better clutch. Since I could slip the factory one fairley good/bad #ad
with the stock plate forward all the way.

Some of my future power parts I want to purchase would be a governor kit, more turbo and psychotty air with a paper element.

Any Input on good or bad modifications, or things that I should or shouldn't do to this high miled Cummins would be greatly appriciated.

The Cummins part of your truck won't mind the bombing in fact it will be good for the engine, your plans sound very good. The thing you need to look at is how well the rest of the truck is holding up,is it worth it to put bucks into it if the doors are getting ready to fall off? That's something for you to decide on,your money may be better spent on a rig with less miles or the Dodge part of yours could very well hold up for 300k more. The engine part is a given,it will go till 500k with normal maintaince. Beware:the throwout bearing on the NV can do serious damage if you let it go too long, fix it asap.

Brian:

Welcome to the TDR Website!

I agree with "illflem. " Take care of that
transmission first! Also before you start
BOMBING invest in a good set of gauges.
