Hey,

I have a buddy at work who has a 2004. 5 3500 4x4 with only a pressure box for additional power. He does tow. Today he mentioned that he has gone through several u-joints at the rear yoke and just behind the carrier. I think he mentioned three or four replacements of each. He only has 30k on the truck.

Any ideas what might be wrong? I asked him if he had problems with vibration (other than just before they go out) and he said that he didn't.

Thanks!

Sounds like he needs to shim the carrier bearing down. A piece of 3/8 flat bar slotted to fit the mounting bolts will allow him to retain his stock bolts and should be enough to eliminate binding. If he runs loaded then this is not the answer your looking for.
