Hi guys, I installed a #10 fuel plate in my 1995 1 ton 4X4 and it has ran great. I just installed a set of Bosch 370's and it runs great not too much more power but the problem is I am getting pretty bad gas mileage and at an idle there is a constant haze of diesel coming out of my muffler. I am pretty much a rookie so please try to explain in detail what I can do to remedy the problem. BTW I can turn day into night when my tourque converter locks up I just roll the throtth on and I can actually barely see headlight behind me at night. Thanks in advance

what your describing sound normal with the 370's. they will give you a significant increase in fuel, and yes the smoke alot, the haze your seeing at idle is normal as well. my truck smokes alot just idling, due to lower compression, timing, and fuel going to the engine. do you have high EGT numbers, what are your boost numbers?, make sure your getting more air then stock, the 370's will give you more fuel.

wes

edit: where is your fuel plate located also? your fuel mileage shouldnt have been affected that much with the 370's. if your smoking alot down low in the rpm on purpose, that could be why your fuel mileage has gone down.

guages = smaaarrrrtttttt

no guages = big problems & not tooooo smart when bombing .

first things first guages are you still running your stock turbo more info please

Get Some Gauges!!

Oh And My Best Guess Would Be That Your Mileage Problems Have Something To Do With Your Right Foot Being Lodged In The Water Pump(heavy Foot). ;)

RHerrera there is more than one flavor of 370 injectors. The cheapies haze at idle, ones you get from Piers Diesel for example have minimal (if any) haze at idle.

The 370 injectors do not have an ideal spray pattern for your engine so they'll result in more smoke, exhaust temps and lower mileage. There are other injectors out there, but 370s are popular due to HP for cheap.

My fuel milage has not ever been the same since the 370's, but they are a lot of fun. I have still been able to get 20mpg towing a very small trailer, but it takes a lot of self discipline to do it. I would bet your egt's are very high, so driver carefully until you get a pyrometer.

You commented you only saw a small increase in power. I think you should seen a huge increase over your stock 160 injectors. Is your transmission slipping?

My bro's 95 5spd is running a #10 plate, stock dv's, 370's, stock turbo, and a AFE. He dyno'd at 372 hp and 850 tq. So you should be in the lower to mid 300 ball park with a 160 pump.

how many times?

ok fuel and air ... fuel and air repeat it with me fuel and air. you got the fuel obviously :D now get some air and a neck brace... . what i would do if you can afford it is take it to a shop and have them look over your setup it sounds to me like you need to adjust the plate back a little to stop some of the fueling... also a super 40 or even a hybrid will help you use more of the fuel. when you see a cloud it means that diesel is going unburnt. when you see a good street truck it will belch a smoke ball till the turbo spools and then all you see at the pipe is the heat shimmer that means fuel and air are in sync... work on that combo and you will be muh happier with your performance

ps if you cant do a turbo right now maybe your better off with the stock injectors till you can afford guages and a turbo :)

The 370's are a little smokey. We also sell 300hp injectors, they don't smoke like the 370's and will make very good hp also. Thanks

Some people sweat the spray pattern of 370's! You can get 300's like Brady said above and even get them honed to flow more like a 370. I run 370's as a second set of injectors too but would rather have a set with 2 flows of hone, that way I at least know they have be set correctly.

Adjust up your wastegate, or use a boost elbow, or unhook boost line to turbo, if it is still in stock location, or you are not limiting boost to wastegate, it is dumping before you are making enough boost to clean up those injectors at all. Get both gauges and adjust up your boost and watch the pyro go down and the boost gauge go up, stock HG and bolts you shouldn't go over 50 psi, just my opinions

i am running 330s and they seem to be relatively smoke free, afc all of the way forward and star wheel backed all of the way off about all i get is a puff on take off when stomped on hard, foot to the floor top gear above 2600 rpm it starts to haze, stock plate is in the middle and max boost up hill unloaded is 26# with the wastegate tube unhooked

Yes your right 300hp injectors with extruding done are very good injectors and they can make great hp. (2 flow or 3 flow) We also set the pressures up which helps droplet size on the injector spray. This helps make more hp. Thanks
