just had banks gages and exhaust system and a pressure lok for the auto transmission and a new lift pump and a box installed... the fuel injector folks found i had 3 count em 3 quarts of oil too much... . checked under the truck and found it had been blowing out enuff thru the little breather hose to get the bottom of everything wet... my question is this!!!! how sluggish would that make the engine at higher speeds loaded????? they did drain out the three qts of oil..... put the truck back on the dyno after the installation and picked up only 10 HP at the wheels but over 200# more torque from 34 mph to 48 mph... . seems all the adds for the boxes "promise" 25 to 80 hp gains... . gee whiz batman... guess something is wrong with the ad people.....

I guess my first question would be : Where the L did all that oil come from , Why didn't they check the oil after the injector install. should be SOP after doing internal work on any engine????

#2 would be: What truck / engine/ transmission/ injectors/box ???????

#3 what kind/ brand/ options was it dynoed on ????

#4 give some numbers:confused:

Now that you have vented , lets have some hard data to evaluate

hey no way man, you mean the banks box doesn't put out what they advertise:rolleyes: , imagine that, i wonder why they get slammed so much on here. same story different day.

10 hp from their box, hmmm you should have had them put on one of their e brakes, they say its good for 30 hp:eek:

What box was it?

The "minor boxes" advertise 50 to 65hp gains, but its not at "peak" power. Since you didn't state which one, I can only guess its one of the minor timing/fueling boxes.

Compare the two runs if you have a print out, and look throughout the whol graph, chance are you'll see your "gain" as advertised.

here are the figures

stock 99 1 ton cummins auto 3. 55 rear end. . tests run on a mustang dyno by cummins trained folks with cummins diagnostics... not dc. the dyno ahowed peak HP at the wheels of 192. 0 at 78 MPH. . and the max torque of 949. 0 at 33 MPH... I then had a banks 4 inch exhaust system put on and banks gauges and a "pressure lok" on the auto transmission and a EZ box and a new supply pump..... then the same dyno showed 202. 9 HP at the wheels at 81. 0 MPH and a max torque of 1080. 3 at 22 MPH..... gee whiz batman... what happened to all the claims of 40 and 50 HP for the EZ and10 to 20 HP for the K&N. . opps forgot, had the k&n added also... . do the mfgs rate these things as engine hp when they figure the increases? mine was rated at the wheels... i do have more pep and more power and the increase in fuel mileage was super... . pulling a very heavy load, my gauges show 1100 egt, 18 to 20 boost and 160 to 170 on the auto transmission. this is out of od and 67 to 72 mph. 2800 rpm..... How am i doing guys??????thnaks for all the help and input before i made my choices... .....

it is an EZ box... and there is no doubt in my mind that the oil change place put in too much oil. . i have NEVER had to add a drop of oil to the truck since day one... they pour the Rotella from a big jug into a pouring can with a spout... in my opinion the last change they simply overfilled the pouring can... where else could it have possibly come from????????:p

Printout or not, I assure you, your mill is not putting out that much torque, even on its best day.

Is it possible that the truck was hopping or bucking on the dyno run causing spikey peak numbers or some other fluke? I don't know if a transmission problem could generate a similar symptom, by slipping and catching? Just speculation.

As for addtional crank case contents, leaky injectors can add fluid to your crank case, so can an over zealous grease monkey at the local Poke'm Lube Stop. If you keep noticing increased crankcase fluid levels after dumping the excess three quarts I'd be concerned about injectors.

The oil change place probably got your Cummins confused with a PowerStroke. Depending on the year, PS engines use 3-4 quarts MORE oil than the Cummins.
