Tool Explanations...

Grease Gun Question

A tool box is kinda like your special "spot" heres mine:

Brandon will tell you it doesn’t look so organized during the day though.

Its a MAC Lower box with a custom made metal top for more space. Channel iron goes up the back side and mounts the peg board and upper cabinet along with an overhead lamp.

The PC on the left has Internet access so I can surf some not so work related stuff (like TDR) when the wife isn’t looking :-laf

Here's my lowly tool chest. Bought it 2 years ago on sale at the local tool crib. I have already outgrown it. It's a Clarke HD (made in China) with ball-bearings. A pretty nice chest, I think. But I need something much bigger. Of course, I also need a bigger garage.

I like the idea of the computer atop the bench... maybe I need to augment my bench a bit. Or even better, get rid of my existing bench and buy a new giant rolling chest that I can put a bench on top just like Matt... hmmmmm... .

My last box was a MAC sized like yours Ryan but with no rollers. . gotta love that feature. I think most all boxes have them now.

A nice mod to what you have already is to get another bottom box and bolt them together, then make a bench top over them both! My bench top is two pieces of 3/4" plywood and I had a sheet metal shop bend me the top so I had a back piece and the front edge is rolled around the plywood. I pulled the top drawer out and bolted it down using carriage bolts.

A great idea, however it doesn't address the main issue: I want a new toolbox. :-laf

Anyone ever heard of "Remline"? This box is <$1000 at Northern...

I have heard of those but never seen one- and at 1000 bucks sounds pretty darn good.

Not to mention every drawer is 21" deep. Seems like an amazing deal. $115 truck ship from Northern.

Ryan, I have seen a few Remline boxes. The ones I saw were very nice and seemed to be of good quality. However, like a lot of companies, they may make two lines, KWIM. one line may be the better quality than the other. Guess I dont know.

that stainless steel box at sams wholesale club looks like a good deal at six hundred something

Ive got one of the CPS stainless boxes from sams. the body seems pretty tough. If you pack a drawer real heavy, you can bend the stop by slamming it too hard. My hammer drawer has had this happen. Whats a good redneck w/o a bunch of hammers? The locks are kind of cheep too. The boxes are not keyed the same. Mine were close and the top box key got put in the bottom one and it turned part ways and stopped, by the time I got the key out, the tumblers inside were broke and I had to take the lock out with it locked and the drawers shut. CPS stood behind their warentee and sent me a new lock to fix it, and they sent me one to match the good lock so I only need 1 key now.

I would rather have a snapon box, but at $650 ot $6500, whitch one did I get for christmass? And if snapon made a stainless box, I dont think my 8" thick shop floor would take it w/o cracking.

hmmm lets see, $2200 for the main cab new but old stock, $1100 for the locker new on sale and $270 for the side cab slightly used he wanted $400 but i traded a old pump . 22 that i had $70 in for half off, or retail $3200, $1500 and $900

I got the the same CPS Stainless Steel set up but from Costco. Different name but they look the same. Nice boxes for $650.

Tom, The Lista boxes are quality boxes. The government contractor that rebuilds the E2 and C2 (Hawkeye and Grayhound) aircraft is converting all of their boxes to Lista. I bet they are expensive, but the government has OPM. I have been doing a lot of work for them and they pay real good.

Cary

Cary,

IIRC, the Lista boxes are not horribly expensive in the grand scheme of things. I'll do a little online comparison shopping and see what I come up with. Blue is my favorite color.

Poway? Been there - nice.

I got one of the stainless steel boxes too.

I got a pic of it before the incident, I'll have to let MDW post the after pic.

My toolboxes. I'm not going to write down everything, it'd take me all day. I started adding up receipts the other day on what I've bought... I stopped after I hit $10,000 :--)
