Pro tech, 4 years now without a leak or a crack. Also packing a high lift jack, 2 sets of tire chains and a 25 ft chain the whole time. Really well made boxes.

Hey!... you forgot... A funky old black plastic Delta with ballpeen smashed in locks. Got pi$$ed-off when once upon a time it wouldn't open ("Better is he that is slow to anger than he that takes a walled city") . Now I'm sounding like John Fonda Kerry

This little gem goes in the topper "shack" on the flatbed for winter time use. I keep the chains, tow straps, spot light, down coat, down sleeping bag, and other emergency goodies in it. Too embrassing to post pics. :-laf

I got a Delta, 2 years now and no leaks. Some times it can be temperamental and not allow you to open the lid no matter how hard you pull on the latches. Seems to be the better lubed you keep the lock pins and latches the better it works. I try to spray them every other fuel fill up.

I have a Better Built that looks exactly like the one in Gravedigger's picture above. Had it for well over 5 years now, I carry enough spare parts, tools and oil/coolant/other fluids to built a new truck. Not to mention 2 jacks and enough wood blocks to jack up my beast :-laf

I have a Pro-Tech that's several years old and still shines like new. It doesn't leak or have any cracks. Also the handle is located on the drivers side so you don't have to crawl in the bed to open it. I put the stuff I use most often on that side and seldom have to climb in the bed.

I'm with Phil aka Rubberneck... Transferflow fuel / tool 54 gal fuel and full top width for tool X 9" deep

ON EDIT... Hey Phil be careful the top can be racked and opened, you ask how I know LOL lost a BUNCH of Snap On's in the past couple weeks... two large gatemouth bags well over 100 LBS of tools

I've had a Delta for over 5 yrs now and its starting to get alot of cracks in it and it is hard to close sometimes, but it is loaded pretty heavy.

The only thing I dislike about my Weatherguard box is I can only open it from the drivers side. But I can't knock the box to much since I got it for free. It carries alot of junk (fluids, jack, tie down straps, etc. ). It has taken some pretty good abuse too (haybles falling on it, jack knifeing the gooseneck against the lid, and backing into the gooseneck hitch).

I did have a Delta before this one but it was a big pile of junk. Latches were always screwed up and wouldn't close right.

got an OLD Delta on my truck... it's probably 4yrs old... had it on my truck for over a year... I replaced the busted lock w/ a cheap drawer lock from Home Depot that doesn't have a guard on it. so I gotta spray it w/ PB Blaster every few times I wash it at the coin-op. never had a problem opening it.

pretty good deal for $60 :D

My box

is a Highwayman by Creative Industries (full open lid - not the side to side slider). It was on the y2k and made it thru the rollover w/o and damage. Stayed locked and never opened. Now it rides in the y2k+3 and the only thing I did was get new "J" clamps for it. The old ones were a little bent and did not want to bend them back (alum gets weak at the bends - no?) in shape. Mounted a drawer box below it and the total wt is around 650 #s with all I got loaded in the 2 boxes. Since I got a long bed, leave about 11" between front of box and back of cab for small item storage (shovel, chains, 5gal fuel cans - when I carry them, etc) and no problem with the gooseneck hitch. Not sure if a 5th would clear and until I get one will wait before "adjusting" the box. Still looks good and never been shined - been on for about 5yrs and only one try to break in that didn't succeed due to the full length locking bar.

box question?

I know this is a poll but I've searched the site and have a few questions on available cross boxes. I'm looking for a powder coated black single lid cross box that is heavy gauge Aluminum and allows the lid to open completely vertical. Most I've seen open to about 80-85 degrees. I don't have many options to look at in my town and so the box would have to be mail ordered without getting to see the specific model in person. I also would like the box not be diamond plated under the ledge were it sits on the bed rails. Does anyone have any box that fits this description that you would be willing to recommend? Also I don't want a bed box as I carry plywood, lumber and steel in my truck often.
