Toolbox organizer/liner

I'm the happy owner of a new cross-bed toolbox and I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to keep things stored in it from moving/rattling around.

When I had my trucks bed spray-lined I noticed they'd do toolboxes too, but that seems like overkill. I was thinking more along the lines of an old piece of carpet, or a rubber mat? Some dividers might be nice too to help keep it organized. Knowing me organization will become a problem! #ad


If anyone has suggestions they'd be appreciated.

Heavy red gasket material works great and it's real tough. Used it in my toolboxes on work trucks. Kinda expensive if you don't need that durability though.

Now I use that non-slip stuff they sell at rv places like camperworld. Comes in a roll about 2'x6' for a few bucks.

Plastic milk crates make useful dividers. Also battery boxes, cheap toolboxes, & Rubbermaid containers.

Keep it full and things won't shift around. #ad

I use a rubber mat. I bought it in bulk, cut it off a roll at a Farm Supply Store. Highway Prooducts(mfg of the toolbox) said not to use a carpet scrap. They tend to draw moisture and if the do get wet, they'll stay wet forever. The mat has been in the box for about 15 years and through 4 trucks. Nothing slides around because I have so much junk in there it can't move far!!

I cut 1/8" plywood doorskin to fit bottom of box,then some 3/4" pine 1x4 material on edge attatched from the bottom w/flathead screws to make dividers,also helps spread any heavy weight out a bit.
