Looking at Weatherguard (Model 127-5) and UWS. I know Weatherguard is popular, but pricey also. UWS is only around $300, compared to $500, and US seems to be the most popular here in Dixie. Any other brands? I'll probably splurge for the Weatherguard, but want to hear some opinions. Thanks!

i have had the same weatherguard toolbox for over 3years and it still looks brand new. i got the black and it has held up great. it has never leaked and the coffin lid and it's shocks are still holding up well. i figured the shocks would have worn out by now(the -30 eather up here is hard on stuff) but there still going strong.

Do not get an 'Ultima'. My truck came with one already on it and everything in it is covered with amuminum dust. You get filthy handling anything in there.

I had a Rosin-Konig (sp) (R/K for short) an a previous truck and any way those things are for commercial use and will last.

We have a Weatherguard 5ver box and are quite satisfied with it. A nice, commercial-grade piece of work. To us, it was worth the money - in this case, you really do get what you pay for! :D

Dixie Dawg,

I don't know if you would be interested, but I have a Weatherguard 127 I'm trying to sell. I'm selling it because I'm going to a bed cover. If interested, let me know: -- email address removed -- .

On my last truck I had a Challenger box. It looked pretty good but did last well at all. One misplaced piece of luggage caused the lid to bend while attempting to close it (gently, mind you). After that it never worked well again. I decided to try a Weatherguard this time and can tell ya, it's worth the extra $$$. Built like a brick I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER house, the black diamond plate looks great and zero complaints after almost 2 years now.

Go Weatherguard.

Best box out there. Plus the lock buttons are on the side of the truck. I could never understand why some manufacturers put the handles towards the bed??It yourt rucks loaded, how do you unlock it?

Highway Products

I'm not sure if you guys like aluminum tool boxes, but if you do, then I'd recommend Highway Products boxes to ya! They sell all kinds of styles and shapes and they'll build one to your specs. A little pricey but IMO they're the best! I guarantee that you'll never bend one trying to close it, you can walk on them, they have lights inside, and they will stand behind their products.

Rawson Konig makes a great box and their service is great. I bought one some years ago and after a couple of years, the welds on the lid cracked. I took it back to the factory in Ft Worth expecting them to say "too bad, so sad. " They said empty it out and we will fix it. I asked what it would cost to repaint it since I had it all scratched up. "No charge!"

Yea, that Rawson-Koenig looks like a helluva box. How's it compare in price, and craftsmanship, to the Weatehrguard? Thanks again y'all!! :)

Rawson-Koenig makes a nice box, but i have never been happy with the opening mechanism, it's always stiff and tuff to open. the shocks only lasted 1 year. and there more money than a weatherguard.

weatherguard

I love my 127-5. I haven't had it long enough to comment on how it's going to hold up but from everything I found researching, I don't have to worry. Good luck,
