Top Cover & Shifter

For all the people running a 94-97 5 spd. and updated to a 98 & up top cover, what are you using for a shifter. I saw one guy who did the swap along with the newer shifter, but doesnt fit the boot well.

I did it and the 98 shifter is alot thinner. . , I got a chunk of nylon and turned it in a lathe to take up the gap. I made it about 1 1/4 inch long and made the center bore to friction fit the shifter and made the OD the size of the boot with a rib for the boot to register on. works great!!!

What is the diameter of the inside of the boot and the length of the shifter? I think i am going to machine my own shifter and handle with a button in it for line locks.
