I hit about 82MPH at full governed speed in a 12valve Cummins powered, Freightliner built, UPS package car. I prayed nothing got out in my way. #ad

The same sized truck powered by a PSD will only do 72MPH. #ad
WHAT'S THAT TELL 'YA #ad

On a dyno the mph will be higher than "real" mph because only the wheels are spinning that fast, there is no brick wall of wind resistance that you are hitting.

Hey Chad,
Where did ya get the V rated "mean lookin set of 33. 5" tires?? #ad
#ad

I'll bet they must have been 5 feet tall at 124 mph!

My 2000 3500 4x4 auto 4. 10 QC stops at 98 mph at 3200--you can feel the engine just lay down--it wants to do more, but hey 7200#'s running 98 mph is fast enough for me, I get my kicks running 121 mph in 1320 feet from a standing start in a 3600# '64 Plymouth in 11. 01 seconds, the truck just needs to get me there in comfort and cheap as possible

Quadzilla will easily put the speedometer in the 125 mph zone and then the rev limiter kicks in and spoils the fun! The DD stage III's that I used to have installed, got to the same top speed MUCH MUCH faster!! Of course, this bit of foolishness was accomplished on a closed course( I40 ) and by a professional ( ME )!!!

Merry Christmas to all!!! Sam

Believe it or not, they are from a store we have here in Indiana called "Big R". They are like a big hardware/farm store in one. These tires dig like I dont know what, and are cheaper than any of the brand name tires. the owner of the tie store has them on his truck. This guy can have any set/brand of tires made, and he has a set of "Big R" tires! I was in 4x4 and the front tires were thowing snow in the bed whenever I turned the tires. They throw so much out the back, that I dont have to worry about tailgaters.

Hi all,

I haven't yet pushed Godzilla to his limit, but I have held him at 90MPH for a few miles, at that speed he is turning 2600 RPM if I remember correctly. I know I've never yet revved him higher than 2600, although from several other posts, maybe I should get him aquainted with the 3000 mark.....

It started when I was trying to catch up to my sister-in-law. I couldn't help noticing how smooth it was at 90, so I decided to go a little more. I think 110 would have been no problem, and possibly 115. I had to get out of it at 103 because I was running out of road, and I wanted to have plenty of room to slow down easy. There was quite a bit of difference in comfort between 90 and 100. Over 90 made me a little nervous - that's a lot of weight at that speed. I'd like to try it again some time, but maybe on a track. Totally stock, by the way.

my 99 auto 3. 54 with Gearvendors overdrive pegged the needel at aprox. 130mph @2700 rpm. I pushed it further, "Before I relized it was pegged" to 2850rpm aprox 138-140mph. the tires sounded like basketballs with 100lbs of air and it felt like they were made out of glass. The truck started to give body roll around light corners and made me get the shakes. I let of the peddel and it took a full 3 count before the gauge let go of the peg. I know what it can do and I won't be doing it again. "unless some one lends me "Z" rated tires and a pass to Bonniville!

I don't think the engine is really governed by the rpm. I ran two dyno runs in 5th gear and saw the rpm go past 3400 but then again my top end speed before defueling begins is only 88mph. I have all kinds of torque up to 87mph and then at 88 it defuels and can't go any faster and my rpm is only at 2500 in 6th gear. So there has to be a speed sensor whether it be the sensor on the rear differential or wherever telling the engine that your wheel speed is at maximum. It's got me hanging on what the real story is. When you have all kinds of power to spare and you can only hit 88. This was proven by the dyno and on the service road. From what I understand that sensor on the rear differential basically monitors wheel speed.

110 is fastest I have been. I forgot to look at the tach, but it felt like it would go plenty faster - no lay-down, no defueling, pedal to spare. It does feel sort of dicey tho

I did the same thing stock once and man does it take forever to get there

BTW don't forget to take a glance at the pyro when you're doin' these "tests"
