Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Torc converter

I am having problems with the torc converter staying engaged. It acted up during the summer so I rapped the negitive battery cable with tin foil which solved the problem. As the weather got colder it is doing the same thing especially when cold. Does anyone have any suggestions?
