I posted a few days ago that under hard load my TQ clutch seems to be slipping a lot , what had happened is that I added a Lucas oil additive for transmission's (2 QUARTS) and this stuff has some aggressive friction modifiers... . DON'T USE IT... ... . My solution... ... ,I flushed 20 litres of dextron lll through it cleaning it out. This has helped the clutch grab harder now... . Bill Kondolay... ... . if you read this will the clutch grab harder as this soaks into the clutch material over a span of time or is this as good as it will get ( posted one hour after flush ) ???????

Peter,

Usually whatever soaks in after the first couple hundred miles thats it.

While you had the pan off , did you crank up the pressure on the vb? On our website, www.dieseltrans.com there is a picture of how to crank up the pressures , that will help you should you need it.

no I didn't Bill but if it helps my situation I sure will. I had a look at your valve body picture ,how many turns can i go... ... ???

You can safely go 3 turns counter clockwise, some guys have done this and have sucessfully gone 5 turns , but 3 is nice and safe.

If you have a pressure gauge baseline pressure from the factory is usually around 52 psi for the 99 and earlier Dodge rams, you can theoretically go safely to 62 psi without affecting wide open shift points.

Each turn on a stock factory regulator spring = 2 psi, without a pressure gauge it will be hard to tell what your baseline starting pressure is at. I have tested some factory ones that have been as high as 55-56 psi.
