Overnight stops

Sacamento Area

I installed a set of Torklifts on my '02 tonight. After installing the driver's side front bracket, I noticed that it was stretching the E brake cable a little. The cable contacts and rubs on the bottom side of the bracket.

I put my floor jack on the bottom edge of the bracket and pushed up on it a little in hopes of gaining a little more clearance, but none was to be had.

What has been other Torklift owner's experience with this? Is this a problem?

Thanks!

Hey Tim-

Though I believe that the Torklifts are the best slide-in camper tie-downs available, I do believe that there is an interference issue as you describe. I have already gone through the same methods as you have tried to gain some extra clearance without success. What I ended up doing is just sleeving the cable with some heavy duty duct tape and routinely check on the state of the cable. My only concern would be if the cable were to start to fray. So far, no wear has been observed and I am going through my second year with daily use of the Emergency Brake at every stop (being a manual). I had always thought that I would have to come up with a better solution (i. e pully), but so far there has been no adverse effects.

I have had a set of Torklift tie downs on my '00 3500 for over 3 years and 40K miles. Yes, the parking brake cable does ride on the bracket, but no signs of rubbing or chaffing.
