Just a note to let other 47RH automatic transmission owners know what fixed my 1995 torque converter clutch lock-up problem.

The brake light switch mounted above the brake pedal !!!!

Although not listed in the repair manual as a control input to the PCM for TCC lock-up, this switch... when malfunctioning... will kill both the cruise control and the torque converter clutch lock-up!

I chased my tail for a couple of weekends trying to find out what the problem was... and reading the TDR comments from other subscibers, indicates they have all done the same... for one reason or another.

At any rate, the brake light switch was my problem and has been corrected (replaced). I hope this information helps some of you out if you have experienced this same problem.

ndurbin,

No problem... hope the TCC lock-up info helps.

Can you tell me about your 215-hp injector upgrade and pump timing settings.

My '95 injectors are stock with 177,000 miles on them. I do have a different metering plate in the pump and have increased maximum boost to 25 psi. Pretty good zoom, and getting about 18 mpg combined mileage going to work and back...commuting about 60 miles round trip... with plenty of slow taffic both ways.

I would like to know which injectors to purchased (marine type or otherwise) and how much trouble it is to swap them out. The manual talks about using a wire wheel (brush) inside the injector port to clean them out... but I don't want anything getting down inside my cylinder bores... especially a stainless steel bristle from a wire wheel. Anything you could pass along concerning the injectors replacement would be helpful.

Also, did you time your pump yourself? How much trouble is it to do this job? What special tools do you need?

Hope I'm not wearing out my welcome!

Thanks... Kevin

too bad a brake switch wouldn't help mine. dealer cashed the check though!!... .....

i installed a tps rewire kit and it solved the problem. no more unlock/lock of the tcc... ...
