In a post inquiring how to tell if my torque converter was aftermarket or not, i was told to take off the TC inspection shield and turn the TC to find a drain plug. So I did this and didnt particularly find a drain plug as I had expected to find... i expected a pipe style plug. WHat i found was about a 1"x1" silver plate on the TC is this the drain plug? It didnt have any writing on it and looked like it could probably be pried off (I didnt attempt) Is this some sort of pop out drain plug? Or is this something that is found on stock TC's?

Any insight would be great... Thanks guys

The torque converter in my 1995 doesn't have a drain plug. That's why the only way to change all the transmission fluid is to remove a cooler line and pump the fluid out with the engine running.

The procedure has been described once or twice in the forums here. You could probably find it with a search. Don't run the transmission dry or bad things may happen.

It will take at least two gallons of ATF to refill if you pump fluid out via a line.
