I have a 98 1/2 24 valve 3500 with auto trans. At 40,000 miles I installed an ATS triple lock torque converter with Amsoil synthetic oil. All was well with the world. At 80,000 miles I noticed the 1 to 2 shift started shifting at a much higher rpm, but only after the truck was started and took off the first time. After that it was fine.

I think its a voltage thing. The tolerance is +/- a couple hundreths of a volt so if its off just a little, the shifting can be erratic. Find all of the ground cable connections to the chassis/engine block, remove them, polish the lug and the mounting area with steel wool, and then reconnect them. I bet it helps.

TC LOCK and UNLOCK REVISITED
Good morning

MY final fix.
I am revisting this post and thread about TC lock and Unlock
TC lock/unlock

After 8000 miles Lock un lock came back As many of you have found out.
I have no problem with the TIMBO APPS Great Product Great Service.

MY next (TEMP?) fix was the noise suppressor from No bull Technical services.
I wired it into my Alt. stopped the LOCK UN LOCK right now and so far it has not returned.

Very good product and very good customer service very easy install. I am very pleased.

I hope this helpes some of you.

Have a great day

get one of the DT Noise filters, install it (takes all of 3 minutes) and that should fix it. Ever since installing one on my 01 about 4 years ago I have had no problems.

Thanks Boeing, All Fixed. Actually I got to thinking about it and decided to remove the wiring I had installed when I installed a toggle switch and Diode lite in line with the converter clutch circuit. It seemed to be fine for about two years then started unlocking and locking. This was apparently causing enough of a voltage drop to cause the problem.
I will keep you recommendation and web site for another time though. Thanks again Rusty

Thanks Stownsend, This info really helped, It got me thinking about something I had done a couple of years ago. I had cut the converter clutch circuit at the computer and run two wires into the the drivers compartment to a switch and 12v diode light. I don't know why it took so long to start acting up but when I removed it, wala, all is well. Thanks again Rusty
