Rear main seal was shot so I replaced my TC with the #518-89 from DTT. 6000 miles later and what a difference! I talked to quite a few people about TC upgrades and nobody really gave me a warm fuzzy. I finally talked to Bill Kondolay at DTT (everybody out there for that matter) and he was extremely professional and explained everything to me in detail. He explained the valve body upgrade as well and worked with the transmission shop that did the work. My truck used to race up to 2400 RPM and go nowhere but not anymore... that power goes to the road. It's a different truck. Do yourself a favor and be sure to talk to Bill when your doing your research.

P. S. Gale Banks should take all his employees up to see Bill for some customer service training.

Trans

I just got off the phone w/ dealer for a new A-518 transmission.

Going to cost me $2765. 00 for a new one. I hear tell it won't come w/ torque converter. I have been inquiring about DTT; how much is a TC and VB? I carry about 1500-2000 lbs. everyday w/ rack, ladders, tool boxes, tools. and other gear needed for work. Will occasionally tow a 16' flatbed trailer w/ equipment. Is this upgrade needed for me? Opinion?

What are you pulling or carrying?

What about trans warranty, and what is their(DTT) warranty?

I'll call Bill K. soon , but want to get as much info as possible. Thanks.

The TC was $650 plus $40 shipping. There's a $200 core charge untill you send the old one back.

Talk to Bill but I don't think you'll need a new valve body, just a shift kit ($150) from Superior Technologies to raise your pressure. If your really going to work it with heavy towing then I believe he said to go with a new valve body but he'll explain that for you.

I don't drag much other then a 3500lb bass boat and trailer around and typically nothing is in my truck or on top other then my canoe, kayak, camping gear and two big rottweilers.

I've got the original transmission in it and the TC from DTT has a several year warranty, I forget exactly how long. Check out their website.

The power is so much better I wish I'd have done it long ago but like everything else, it cost money.

Good luck!

Butch
