Under a heavy load in high gear with converter locked I can feel the engine de-fuel I believe because of slippage in the transmission. I am hoping upgrading the Torque converter and Valve body will fix this issue. Any recommendations on brand/model would be very helpful.
Pro~Torque out of Long Island NY makes nice TC's. As far as VB's, you can't go wrong with any of the Diesel transmission Companies. My VB was done by my Local transmission guy, Who has a 24V 2nd Gen, and It Rocks!!
I have Sun coast TC & VB in my 06 and it works great. It holds up to towing 10K+, 450+HP 13 sec 1/4 miles and over 980lbs or torque.
I had the same in my 04. 5 and same good results. I would reccomend every owner upgrade these two things in there auto trucks. The MPG improvment alone is enough plus the tranns just fells somuch stronger.
Nothing bad can come from a better TC &VB from most of the aftermarket suppliers.
Unless that trans is fresh and strong,Doing only TC/VB may cause even greater stress on the componets that are the weak link to start, and may show its ugly head in even more costly repairs.

Thank the debate I have been going round and round with. my trans has 82k on it and its held up pretty well but I have slipped it afew times when i was playing a little to much. I've been thinking about doing a VB when I do my next service witch is in a couple weeks but some say that you should do the converter aswell but I just can't swing that right now and i realy have no desire to pull the transmission right now. I have had my guages on for the last 40k plus and the hottest I have seen my transmission get is 175 in the pan so I think the transmission is still in good shape.
