I'M HAVING MY AUTO TRANS REBUILT AT THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER. I HAVE A 95 4X4 @ 230 HP (TST PLATE). I WANT TO INCREASE TIRE SIZE TO 295'S. I FILL I NEED A BETTER THAN STOCK T/C BUT DON'T KNOW WHICH WAY TO GO. (NEW AT THIS TD STUFF, BUT LOVE IT)

JBoone:

Welcome to the TDR Website!

You will have to try and attend one of
our N. C. TDR meetings down near Raleigh
sometime. We met today in Smithfield and
had about nine trucks show up.

To answer your question, I have a "Pro-
Torque" Torque Converter and BD Valve
Body on my truck and have had no problems
with either of them. I see you have a
95'Dodge. If you are "rebuilding" the
transmission, make sure you have them
replace EVERYTHING while you are in there!
(i. e. clutch packs, seals, etc. )
At 98,000 miles I replaced ONLY the T/C
and valve body and 10,000 miles later I
had to go BACK IN and have everything
done as the transmission began "revving
up" between the 2nd and 3rd gear shift.
Clutch packs and seals were worn!!!!
I should have done all that the first
time but didn't. My fault..... but it cost
me more money than it originally would
have. (BTW, the problem had nothing to
do with the new T/C or valve body. The
metal discs in the clutch packs were gone
and the seals were bad!)

Also, watch the stall speeds of the new
converters. If you are not planning on
modifying your engine, try to stay a
little closer to the "stock" stall speed.
My "Pro-Torque" T/C had a stall speed of
1600 RPM and before all my engine mods.
I had a "flat spot" or "lag" off the line.
I got my T/C and valve body from "Scheid
Diesel" in Effingham, Illinois. Their
phone number is: 1-800-669-1934.

Alot of the other members have reported
very good results with Bill Kondolay's
new T/C and valve bodies. His new
company is DTT (Diesel Transmission
Technology). I am sure some of them
will see your post and give you a
report on Bill's products.

Hope this has helped you some.

BD has a new TC (not yet available for market, but the first run of stator castings (stainless steel) should be done by now, so they should be proceeding on or near schedule with market-date... early march??)

this one was able to hold 1000+ lbft and 450+HP (Piers drove the test mule) http://www.bd-vfi.com/ram/1000.php
I, for one, want one-a those!

I don't, however, know how much resistance was applied to the wheels during the R+D stages... like what you can do with a Mustang Dyno, as opposed to the passive-resistance Dynojet

I was supposed to be getting one of the new bd converters but looks like I wont until the rest of us can in about 2 months according to fridays convorsation with Piers. I guess I'm going to be using their R6 tc since Piers was not authorized to let me use one of the prototypes. Well I guess we'll see what it made of soon #ad

I just got back from the transmission seminar near Dallas where Bill Kondalay talked about his torque converter and valve body. I can tell you that I was very impresses with his work. I drove Bill's (actually his wife's) truck a couple of times, and I can assure you that after you get one of his TC's and VB's, you will be smiling just as much as I was when I got back. Bill's TC and VB make the truck drive like you wished it did from the factory. I bought the valve body, and in the very near future, I will get the Torque converter.

Your first mistake was having it rebuilt by the Dodge dealer. Link over to DTT (Diesel Transmission Technology - Bill Kondolay) Bill & his shop are awesome, and are one of the best, if not the best at what they do

You will want to do a new valvebody & torque converter together. Here is the link to DTT:

I also have a 95 with the tst plate. Bills TC and VB made my truck come alive. It puts the power your making to the ground. I wish you were close enough to drive mine . you would like it.

Bill's VB and torque converter are awsome! I too went to the Dallas seminar and drove Bill's truck. The truck runs the way it should run and the torque converter does it's thing the way it SUPPOSED to, with fluid coupling, not relying on the lock up clutch. If my '95 wasn't fixing to be demoted to being my wife's daily driver, I would have bought the V/B and torque converter on the spot!
