it feels like the torque converter is not releasing when slowing down or starting off. vehicle starts and stops with the engine acting like it is about to stall. 28,200 miles on vehicle. anyone else having this problem?

harvey, that's good.

however, according to my diesel mech at the dodge dealership he has seen several. have an appointment with him for this next wednesday.

TDR is the site to go too for tech info and was wondering how common this problem was, or if i was just lucky. :)

I wonder . . . is the torque converter used in C&C trucks with Aisin transmission a different torque converter than used with 68RE in pickups? I'm guessing it is.

That's the first I've heard of any trouble related to the Aisin. Let us know what you learn.

keep you posted. i would prefer that it had a software glitch or just needed a tweak somewhere, i've been very happy with the truck.

I've 278,000 on mine, the Aisin transmission has been completely trouble free. All I've done is change the oil and filters as needed.

FFeiller,

TDR member TulsaOkie has well over 300k on his C&C. I've not read any posts by him reporting Aisin problems.

I hope your symptom turns out to be something simple and easily cured.

no codes. rotated front tires to the rear which have been rotated 3 times already and they are really bad. goodyear tires are lousey. 28k and totally shot. they lowered air pressure to 70lbs.

anyway, problem is still there. will take it back tomorrow. i realize that these vehicles are constantly monitored by the in vheicle computers, so i don't know what to think. i have a lot of respect for this mechanic.

I just read your initial post again thinking about the symptoms you described. Is it possible that you are hearing and feeling the engine in the regeneration mode?

I always know when mine is in regen because I have gauges but I can see how you could interpret the slight stumble off idle and the different rumble in the exhaust note when in regen as torque converter problems.

Harvey,
This started about two months ago, it is getting progressively worse. Let the service man drive it this morning, they rotated tires yesterday, he says there is definetly wrong, but no codes. I guess in today's age of technology. If the computerit can't see it, it doesn't exist.

Why don't you pm sag2 and ask him. He is clearly a knowledgeable dealer tech and somewhere in the SF Bay area. Probably not too far from you at San Jose.

It has been my experience and opinion that truly knowledgeable real mechanics are not very common in dealerships. Most have so-called technicians now who are completely lost without a code and would rotate the tires to cure a torque converter complaint.
