Hi All, just wanted to know if anyone out there has dealt with joe from suncoast. Also what do you think of the pro-loc torque converter and V/B kit. Just looking for some feed back, getting ready to upgrade the auto transmission and would like some info. TIA:D

Ok, seriously, I don't know anything about the converters you asked about, but if this thread takes the direction of most transmission threads, my response will make sense.

Jeff

I had Joe work on my truck in November. It is like a new truck now, love it. Joe is real great to work with, I can only think of good things to say. :) :) :)

VeeTen... ... ... ... ... Now your not playing fair, assuming where this thread will go.

Oh, BTW... ... ... ... ... ... . my converter is better than yours:rolleyes: :p :D

I hope you get some feedback specific to Suncoast's products and service.

Although there are many to choose from, the overwelming favorite around here is Diesel Transmission Technology. Bill Kondolay's (DTT) way of doing things has brought out some "spirited-dis-agreements". You should easily find plenty of reading with the search function (above).

To summarize, the stock lock-up clutch is the weak point in the Dodge transmission. Most transmission companies sell a heavy-duty replacement to prevent slipping. However, in high, horsepower applications, this can cause break-down in other areas of the transmission. Bill K. sells a very efficient fluid coupler, and uses it under load, rather than the lock-up clutch. It yields virtually the same power output, yet will "give" before further damage is done.

Bill's strongest point is his service, 7 days a week. He is great to talk to for advice, will personally help trouble-shoot any problems (even if it's not his product), and will stand behind his products like no one else.

Unless the price/convenince is drastically different, you really should look into his T/C, VB, etc. Give him a call with any questions, about his products, or others. You won't be disapointed.

Good Luck, and may you be happy when the smoke settles.

I was getting a lot a torque converter chatter when I started towing my 5'er (UVW 11,730 lbs more like 13k to 14k right now). Had the Pro-Loc installed and haven't had a problem since. Doesn't mean I won't, but I have a lot of faith in it from my current experience.
