Well, I did it! I have my Torque-Loc. I am looking at it -- wondering where the best place to "stick" the module is, any reccomendations?

Dusky,

I am far from being an expert but I believe Torque-loc has been around for a lot longer than Pressure-loc.

Torque-loc ia a "fancy" "mystery switch" enabling "on-demand" lock-up of the torque converter, one feature that makes it fancy is that it automatically disengages at about 25 miles an hour, thereby preventing a case of the "Dumbs" causing the engine to stall. One of the dashboard controllable switched options enables it to act the same as BD'S Auto-loc when you have an BD exhaust brake (and some other brands) installed.

Pressure-loc, on the other hand, (as I understand it) increases the hydraulic pressure which is used as the force to hold the lockup clutch disks together within the torque convertor when "Lock-Up" is called for by an Auto-loc or torque-loc command and the Throttle position is at "idle" What other times and circumstances the clutch actuating pressures are elevated (if at all) I don't know.

My understanding is that pressure-loc "fakes out" the transmission and/or the power control module to make it/them believe that the throttle position is much higher than the idle position, thereby providing greater pressure with the "foot off the "Gas"" (fuel). I want one sooner or later. I just have to do one thing at a time and the torque loc will allow me to keep the transmission fluid a little cooler than it would otherwise be.

Anybody chime-in if I have it wrong.

I mounted the computer with a zip-tie to the black plastic box ( I think it's the keyless entry, alarm, power door lock... controller ) to the right side of the steering column behind the knee bolster. Velcro may be a better fastener, I changed the shift inversion back to stock after driving a few weeks in the "start with o-d off" mode. It's kinda tough to fish the zip-tie where it needs to go.

Dusky, the PressureLoc is one of BD's newest products. The TorqLoc has been out for several years.

Nelson, as I have numerous "other" boxes and accessories mounted beneath my dash (in an organized way), I ran out of quality real estate in which to mount my TorqLoc module (oh well, first come, first served). Anyway, I elected to pad the top, bottom both ends and the back (opposite the terminals) with 1/4" thick, adhesive backed felt. This material is commonly used to wrap injured or bruised legs on horses. I know it sounds weird although it works great... with no residual noise while driving. The "modified" box was easily tucked up into an area just above the steering column, above a large wire bundle. It has worked absolutely flawless for me, allowing easy access for a wiring change I made... I elected to BOMB BD's TorqLoc wiring schematic to suit my needs (thanks to installation tips I received from the experts at The PowerShop in Enumclaw, WA).

Nelson,
One small after thought,I ran the wires through the firewall along the hood latch release cable in front of the parking brake assembly. No holes to drill and the grommet is very flexable, the first one is the hardest to get through. The nice thing about this location is most of your connections are made just above this hole ( my e-brake wires also exit the cab there ) and with a little bit of black wire loom it is very stealth under the hood. I put all of my wiring in the stuff for protection and it just looks better--the stuff is real cheap. #ad

PS-- Noticed on your sig. no e-brake?? If you don't have one ya don't know what you're missing! #ad
