Amsoil Question.....Which Differential Fluid Do I Need?

Does anybody know what the torque is on the AAM rear end bolts? I have a 03 and I remember the last time I changed the gear oil the repair manual had the wrong spec. I forgot to wright down the right torque. Thanks.

I went with what just felt right for the bolts. I used a 3/8 drive and apllied equal pressure. You are right not to use the factory specs, too many snapping bolts#@$%!

Installed a PML differential cover from Geno's garage. It called for 20 ft. lbs torgue. Used the factory gasket for the second time with no leaks. PMl is a well made cover with the filer, level and magnetic drain.

The first time in changing the cover to change the lube, the 30 foot lbs. torque seemed too much. PML's instructions seemed more correct. Its possible that one might have to use a new replacement cover if the reusable one is used too much, also Permatex gasket maker 26B has been advocated as an alternate sealer.

On my former thread about the proper torgue, I erred as the PML cover is alluminum which comes with a 6MM allen wrench socket to be torgued at 20 ft. lbs.

This torgue seems more consistent with common sense as the steel houseing (OEM) seemed severe at 30 ft. lbs.
