The bottom of the ramp is idling and the top is hi rpm. The rack pal moves up with higher rpm and forward with more throttle. The bottom of the afc stop comes down to the step in the stock plate. Above the step is where afc control begins. The aftermarket plates don't have the step - you end up sliding the afc and allowing more fuel anyway. Plus the stock plate isn't a very aggressive profile. Here's something interesting - Central Motive Power(Bosch shop)put on the RMTDR meeting yesterday and explained pumps and injectors. They really badmouthed plates and spring kits because they have to play strictly by Boschs' rules. They think nobody knows what they're doing with plate profiles and they will surely put excessive stresses on the system. They claimed they could recal the stock pump and make it do anything a person could possibly want - as long as the person only wants 15-20% more power. That wouldn't cut it for most of us! They finally admitted recal is dandy to make sure the pump is properly balanced and timed but if that wasn't enough to put in a plate. My sentiments exactly! Craig

Craig:

Good explanation!

At least I don't have to worry about my
pump being "recalled" because I am "out
of warranty!"

Bosch had a booth set up at the "Scheid
Rally" last year and had several 24 valve
VP-44 pumps along with two P7100 pumps
that they said were "burned up" due to
overfueling etc. Your right, their "factory
guys" are definitely "anti-modification. "

ZZMAN,

You bet a gradual slope works. Ck out the #10 sometime. #ad
The #10 slopes back to full fueling about 1/2 the way up, so EGT at low end needs the eagle eye. I picked up a couple stock plates & tried grinding to slope up to 350hp or so. These babys are hardened & I didn't pull that one off. #ad
