Can anyone tell me the torque spec for my rear drive shaft u joints bolts. I

couldn't find this in my manual. I have assembled them before and had the info but cannot find it.

Thanks

Mike

Center Bearing Bolts 50 ft lbs, Front Shaft Flange Yoke 65 ft lbs, Front Shaft Axle Yoke 14 ft lbs, Rear Shaft 9-1/4 Axle 80 ft lbs, Rear Shaft Dana Axle 22 ft lbs. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Bob. I was trying to find a web site for the company that makes Spicer U joints. Anyone out there got a link.

Thanks

Mike

Found the web site for Dana which owns the Spicer product line. Got the phone # for customer support and they told me what the specs might be. It depends on what unit is installed. They said it could be a 1330 which is usually on the front axle, sometimes on the back axle and that torque is 13 to 18 ft lbs. If its the 1350 or 1410 which could be on the back axle it would be 30 to 35 ft. lbs. Talked to the drive-line shop that installed the u joints originally and the said they did it by feel. There are no numbers stamped on the u joints,You have to measure them to figure out which is which.

Oo. Oo. Oo.

Sorry was not of more help. I do recall though someone mention the straps on the u-joints can stretch and to watch out for that problem. I think they suggested not reusing as I recall.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the feedback. In looking at the web site for Dana which owns spicer I found so many numbers I got dizzy. After talking to Dana on the phone and then the shop that originally installed the u joints I didnt really come away with one answer,I had multiple answers to the same question.

In the end I went with 20 foot # which is what the owner of the shop suggested. What I really find frustrating is the fact the manufacture doesn't stamp these parts for easy I. D. Dont know what the logic is there unless they

don't want to claim ownership. Thanks again for the response. Its always a good feeling when you here back from a TDR member.

Take care

Mike
