Does anyone know the torque specs for the nut on the rear differential pinion on an 03 Ram 2500HD with 6 speed? My seal is leaking and I need to replace it. Thanks.

Doing it by the book involves measuring the running torque on the bearing without the seal installed, and then reinstating that torque after installation so it is a fairly complicated process.
I just had my seal replaced, and the guy who did it marked the nut position, they backed it off slightly, then measured the torque to get back to that position. Then he replaced the seal and re torqued to the measured level. It was in the hundreds of ft lbs.
Probably not the best, but it was quick and cheap.

There is a teeny tiny bit of play in the bearings. I didn't measure it, can't see it, but I can hear a little it when I move the shaft from side to side. I would like to tighten to take up that play.

Do that, so you have proper preload. Take greatest care, every single degree of turn angle matters!
