Agreed, but judging by the number of axles on the rear of the trailer, it seems to be missing the front part of it that distributes the weight a tad better...

Perhaps, this was a certain road that additional length wasn't allowed?? If so, the plate should've been slid all the way forward to keep weight on the steers!! During mud season and winter, I keep as much weight on the steer axle as possible.!!
 
I can't imagine what forces are at play with the huge loads and big power on those drag trucks, but my guess is the ones that twist into a pretzel have aluminum frames. the good old double steel frames, plant the left tire better.
