has anyone done business w/torque and chrome?

i had a problem w/paypal, tried to call vendor, no answer, answering machine has "generic" message that does not identify the business on the message.

fishy?

Torque and Chrome

I used them to purchase a Banks exhaust system. Their customer service is the best I've dealt with in a long time. They kept me informed of ship date and and other info. If they told me they would call back by a certain time, I could set my clock by it. I would recommend them. Prices were very good too. And no I don't work for them, just pleased with their service.

WELCOME TO TDR......

your response sorta creeped me out.....

you are saying the EXACT things i received in an email from the supposed "owner"

translation: it does NOT give me that warm fuzzy feeling

i think i will go with someone i can trust -- RIP ROOKS

torqueandchrome needs to operate a little more professionally - like get a businesss phone (not home phone) and message service that states the business -- this would only add pennies to the overhead

i may be paranoid, but in this day-in-age of identity theft, fraud and a crook waiting practically around every corner; there is NO being TOO SAFE!

buyer beware

I haven't done bidness with them, but did get a spam email. I emailed them back and they responded professionally and promptly.

FWIW

RDietze

Sorry to not have been able to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling about this company. They did good by me. This is a copy of the last email sent to me after I received my exhaust system.

Thanks Joey,

That IS something I want to be able to give our friends as well, some service.

I hope that you'll get a chance to tell some other folks about your experience. There are a lot of forums that you can send those guys some information too.

As we ARE a small company, sometimes it's through this method, that they get a chance to find us. Any help you could give us would be greatly appreciated.

Give me a call or some email with any thoughts you have, or other product requests. We're working on brining Bully Dog and Edge Juice to the pages of Torque and Chrome, and I know that the folks would be happy to find a place where they can get THE RIGHT price, with some service as well.

Thanks again, your business is always appreciated...

so far so good

I've been talking to Damian over the past couple days via e-mail. He has ordered the banks E-brake for my truck and has even offered to meet me this next week in Houston to deliver the product to help save me the shipping charges to Alaska, As I'm currently working on a job in south Texas and will be flying out of Houston next week. So far he has had the best price anywhere and has been extremely helpful.

The last e-mail I received which was this morning said he was getting his phone system repaired do to some pest chewing through the lines and that he had ordered the E-Brake.

I've been impressed with how promptly he responds to e-mails and his willingness to work with me on the shipping issue. But I also tend to believe that most people are honest and good.

I would give them a shot. In fact I am. :) :)

UPDATE

Just a quick update.

I meet Damian the other day when he delivered My Banks E-brake to me at the hotel which I might add saved me a ton in Shipping as I was able to take it back to Alaska as luggage.

From my dealings with him I can honestly say he is a great guy selling great products at great prices with exceptional service.

I would recommend him and his company highly to anyone based on his service alone not to mention his great prices. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii and are tired of companies that only ship next day air give Damian a call as he is flexible in his shipping arrangements boat, truck, pony express you name it.

I'm not affiliated with Torque & Chrome in any way. I'm just an extremely satisfied customer. :D :D

Well...

Considering the fact that I have never done buisiness with them, I probably have no right to have an opinion about the outfit in question. But I will say that I took a look at their website and I'm not too terribly impressed.

No prices quoted, no online ordering available, NO SALE!

i am not affiliated w/any verdor -- call em' like i see em'

I wouldn't let a poor website deter me from dealing with someone. After all, they are truck enthusiasts or parts vendors, not web designers. Would you pay 5 or 10 % more for an item so the vendor could pay a pro to design and maintain a neat website? I wouldn't. Wide selection of parts, good prices, good customer service, prompt economical shipping. IMHO, that's what's important.

You really shouldn't let the "no on-line ordering" affect your buying from a company. Some places want to make sure that a customer gets what they need/want, and are not just wasting money, only to be slammed later on the forums when something does not work as the buyer thought it would.

Even though a lot of us here(TDR) know exactly what WE want, anyone in the world can buy, and might end up with something they might not be able to use when doing on-line ordering.

An example would be if someone stumbled upon a website for diesel performance, and thought, "Boy it should would be cool to have some Stage 8(200+ hp) injectors", so they buy them on-line without talking to ANYBODY, and ends up burning the engine to the ground, killing their fueling system, toasting the clutch, and a number of other things that could go wrong without the proper setup.

This is just one reason why many companies don't sell on-line, there are others as well.

Just something to think about. :)

You guys will probably think that I'm being childish, and you're probably right. But whether I'm buying a car or a cotter pin, I have a real problem with having to ASK how much something costs. I just get the feeling that the seller is hiding something, or that the great savings that they are promising really ain't all that great.

"If you hafta ask, you can't afford it!"

As far as online ordering is concerend, I bought a new TC from Mojave Greens website, and Bruce the head of the comapny called me in person to confirm the order and to make sure that I knew what I was getting and that it was really what I wanted. I certainly have no problem with that!

I just like to buy stuff online because I work midnights, and can order new components at 3AM from the comfort of my office. :D

Most retailers, whether selling diesel performance parts or clothes, have an agreement with the manufacturer, if they list a price it must be the MSRP, or an authorized sale, otherwise it can seem unfair to other retailers who won't stock their merchandise. So always call, a lot of times they will sell below even their advertised prices.
