My engine was removed to have gaskets replaced at 240k miles. Since the engine has been reinstalled, my engine completely shuts off while driving. Dash and power stays on. After a few minutes it'll start right back up. I've had the ECU refurbished, brand new fast fuel pump system, checked for loose wires and can't find anything. This is obviously scary, but the problem is that nobody I've taken it to knows what's causing it. Any suggestions? I get a 1694 code.

That sounds like you either have a connector in the harness that isn't fully connected(since shuts down while driving), or there are some codes in a module that won't allow for full communication throughout the bus network.

First thing would be to check for pinched wiring or connectors that aren't seated fully with their locks engaged.
Second, have truck scanned for codes in ALL modules.

Most common problem being between ECM and PCM. Good luck.

I had a similar situation when we put the engine in my ‘98.5. Finally one day I bumped a connector on the firewall with my elbow and it died. I had previously checked it but obviously not good enough.

Check ALL your connectors in the engine bay. Try to pull them apart then push them together. The culprit on mine was this one. As I said, I thought I’d already checked it, and if I had not bumped it, I may never have found it.
