Welding question

Had to tow a Duramax.....

VW have just announced in England that their new SUV is on sale from 1st May. It's called the Touareg and one of the engine options available is a 313bhp 5. 0 liter V10 TDI. The market for bombs/tuning is already established (in Europe) and apparently 500bhp is possible. :D When does the Touarag become available in the USA?

According to this, the V10 TDI Touareg is scheduled for introduction in North America in the Summer of 2004. However, this article suggests the Touareg TDI may have problems meeting Tier II emission regulations (which were obviously designed with gas engines in mind).

We'll see.

Give that man a coconut! The current exchange rate means multiply UK Pounds Sterling by about 1. 5 to convert into real money ($US) .

Bummer about Tier 2 emissions though. I wonder if any servicemen stationed over here in Europe will buy one and get Uncle Sam to ship it back to the USA for free and possibly limbo under the Tier 2 emissions, if it's classified as a pre-used vehicle, when the checks may not be so stringent... ... ?

John, just saw a TV article on the new Touareg yesterday. They didn't mention the diesel, but had a 340 horse gas v8 under the hood. Should be available here soon, as in a couple of months tops. It interested my wife and me since we need to replace her Passat VR6 this year. It's been a great car but in now closing in on 160,000 miles. The $45,000. 00 price of the Touareg made us think different. If the quality is anything like what we have witnessed, then maybe they can get away with that price. It looked to have every gizmo known to mankind. I just love the way a German car goes down the road.
