What I thought was a valve cover gasket leak was indeed not but I can't seem to find the source for where the oil is coming from. It is for sure engine oil and seems to be coming out on the drivers side back of the block. I runs down the drivers side of the transmission where it bolts up to the block. Any ideas??

thanks all.

Yeah, unh-huh... A black light at the back of the block... .

JEEZE, if the guy could GET back there with a black light, he wouldn't NEED it OR the dye... ;) :p

exactly... took the words right out of my mouth.

Ken. . check your head gasket close... some have had a weep from 5/6 area and it moves back... with your power level might ahave a slight leak back there

also you have a fuel return back there , might have a seal/leak in the back of the return

have you had the valve cover off lately. . I missed aligned the gasket once and had a leak in back do it

How about dip stick area ??

I think you hit the nail on the head. It's looks like its leaking in the front too!! I knew it was going to happen, just didn't know when. I did have the valve cover off couple weeks back to install the Mach 3's but you can tell the oil isn't seeping from there. It's pretty obvious. So my next question is what's the next steps? What ever panned out with the "fire ring"? was that just a gasket or? I plan on twins soon so I want to do this only once. Thanks for the help. Oh, should I pretty much park it till it gets fixed?

Thanks,

Ken

as long as you not getting oil in water or pressuring the water out the puke bottle. . go for it. . BUT watch close as it can get worse quick

also don't "power it up" while in this condition

Fire ring in my future also. . it's a stock type gasket with the fire ring cut out with new rings to cut in the block/head and use 12MM studs with it.
