I see in the 2004 specs that the automatic trans has a tow/haul mode, but didn't find any explanation on what it does. Anyone have any scoop on that?

The Tow/Haul mode only applies to the 545RFE transmission used with the Hemi and the 4. 7L V8s. The 48RE is not currently scheduled to get it.

Well, I quess their press release is miss leading because it says that models equiipped with an automatic are equipped with the tow/haul feature. So what's new????

tow/haul mode

I just drove an '04 yesterday and it was the 48RE with Tow/Haul on the end of the shift lever. It felt like the OD button on the 2nd gen truck. Going down the the hwy, press the button and it comes out of lock-up, raising the rpm's. Of course, there was no load on a demo drive :) . The truck had 3 miles on it.

Interesting... the full press kit shows T/H only available with the Hemi/545RFE for 2500/3500 models. They will need to adjust that - I stand corrected.

If all T/H does is unlock the TC, that seems like a waste. Extra TC wear and increased fluid temps just for a few hundred rpms. I think I'll just stomp the go-pedal instead when I get my 2005.

KC. . I'm not saying for sure that's what it does, it's just what it feels like. The only thing I can compare it to is the OD button on previous trucks. It just starts spinnin' a lot faster... . which makes sense if one has a load on board. The truck was a 2500 4X4. Ran pretty good... . not as slushy feeling as the previous automatics.
