My problem is when ever I turn on my tow/haul and exhaust break. I have turbo problems. I pull a 5th wheel trailer but it doesn’t matter if I’m pull a trailer or not. When I pull up a hill and start down hill and the turbo loses it boost and glides down the road. When I go to put my foot back in it the turbo doesn’t seem like it catches and will just roll black smoke. If I let off of it and then get back into it, it will take a hold and go on down the road pulling just fine. It will not do this if I don’t have the tow/haul turned on. I’m at a loss any help would be appreciated.

Yes I was able to pull code P 2202 it says turbo charger boost pressure not detected. Can y’all please tell me what the best way to fix this issue?

You could try disconnecting the batteries to reset the code and see if it comes back.

All I can find is that you need to replace the upper nox sensor

When I go to put my foot back in it the turbo doesn’t seem like it catches and will just roll black smoke.

My experience is very limited regarding the operation of the 6.7L engine. I do know that a variable geometry turbo (VGT) is used on these engines and there have been problems with soot building up in the variable portion of the turbo, especially in the early years that have the factory exhaust system still in place.

When descending a hill and you let off the throttle, the sliding vanes of the VGT will go to the idle position or the exhaust brake position (in the Tow / Haul mode). When you step on the throttle, likely the sliding vanes remain stuck in that position, consequently no boost will build which will result in black smoke from the exhaust. This will probably set a code, but not necessarily a code that is directly related to the problem.

Just something to consider...

You could try changing out the turbo boost sensor. It's weird that your getting a nox sensor code and it's the turbo that's acting up.

Hopefully someone here will have more answers.

After further investigation the code it pulls up P2262 also it only does it when the turbo exhaust brake is applied. It still says turbo charger boost pressure not detected but it will not do it in just tow/haul. Once I push the button for exhaust brake it acts a fool. My eye sight is not as good as it once was and it could of pulled code 2262 all along.

Took her to a diesel shop today. He new exactly what was wrong with my truck. He said it was the turbo actuator was bad.. I ask him if he was sure and he told me it would cost $700.00 and if that didn’t fix it it was Free. I believe I will let him fix my truck. Thanks for the help.
