Does anyone that has done this mod know what color wires go with what color wires. This is the 3rd gen power tow mirrors on a 2nd gen with factory power and heat. Thanks

When I hooked mine up I wired the 2 black wires on each side to the 2 black wires from the door plug. Black wires are for mirror heat The other wires I just randomly hooked up until I had the correct function from the switch. Trial and error method. No problems and no blow fuses.

I did the same as Leavitt... I went to radio shack and got some crimp on quick disconnects and put the males on the mirror leads and the females on the truck end of the harness and just kept plugging in and switching until the mirror worked as designed. And I love it... you will too!

I have triple checked the wires and they are hooked up correctly. The problem is when on left mirror the right moves up and left at the same time the left one moves up and left, then on right mirror it will only move up and left, when you move right and down the dome lights dim some. I had the non power tow mirrors on since December, but I'm sure the small power mirrors worked fine then. I can see how the left and right could move at same time. I got a different switch and it still did it, no change. And if there is messed up wires in the cab some where, I still don't see how the right could be affected by the left one, I figure the wires for the left never leave the door, maybe not??? Help please, I'm to the hammer throwing point!!!

It's been a long time but as I recall I wired up just the left side first with the switch in the left adjust mode. I then copied the wire color hook up for the right side the same as the left side. Both mirrors in the stowed position(not up in the towing position). Are you sure you have the correct wires for the heat function hooked up right? These are the only ones that I can think of that go to both mirrors.

I know a lot of them are different, but here's what mine were.

Mirror to Driver's Door:

Green - Yellow/Red

Blue - Yellow

Gray - Blue/White

Black - Black/Green

Black - Blue/Yellow

Mirror to Passenger Door:

Green - White

Blue - Yellow/Black

Gray - Blue

Black - Black/Green

Black - Blue/Yellow

This might help you with some clues if it doesn't match the same. I had trouble until a friend gave me what his was. Mine were different, but his were close enough to get me on the right track. Good luck! It's a great mod.

Fireman are these colors berfore the plug in the door? The colors for the mirrors are the same as mine, but you colors on the truck side sound differnt, I thought you might be refering to the wires before the plug in the door. Thanks

Those are the colors at the plug in each door (the plug that has to be cut off since it doesn't match the mirror plug). I've found that the colors are different from truck to truck - even trucks of the same year. I put connectors on each wire and kept switching them around until I found the correct combinations.

OK I see, you cut the plugs off and hard wired it, I still had the OEM power mirrors so I used the plug from them to plug into the one in the door. I'll check colors all the way through tomorrow. Too many wire colors with the mirror one color, the wires I used to extend another color, the old mirror plug another color and then the plug in the door still more colors, starting to sound like a government operation( no offense to the gov employees around here)!! I feel like I must have a wire crossed somewhere in the drvrs side to make the pass do what it's doing, so I'll check again. Thanks

Today I once again check the wires from the mirror all the way through the plug and they are both wired correctly. Still no dice. Tomorrow I will remove both mirrors and check for mashed wires in the mounting base. One thing I noticed though, I unhooked the rt mirror since it is not working right and now the dome light does not flicker and dim when I move the mirror switch, so that leads me to believe the problem lies in the rt mirror, I hope!!
