Has anyone disassembled the 05 flip up manual tow mirrors?? I would like to swap the faces from side to side. I find the spot mirror blocking my view when trying to back a trailer around a corner. By swapping sides, I can have the spot in the top outside corner instead of the bottom corner. It looks like the face is the same on both sides and it should work, but I can not find any one to tell me how they come apart. The dealer won't even look into it, said they are an assembly and can not be disassembled. I find that hard to believe. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!

I have a broken one at home I will send you if you pay the shipping. If you want I can take a picture and send it to you also to make sure its in the condition you need it in to find out.

I have the tow mirrors also and would like to rotate them. Tried to get the mirror apart but was unsuccessful. Saw the drawing in the service manual and it didn't look anything like what is inside mine.

Hoefler, let me know if you are successful. Milehigh. o. if you have any photos I'd appreciate them greatly!

Thanks,

If it is a non powered unit, I would like to see it. It sure would be better than breaking one on my truck trying to take it apart. Let me know how much it would be to send it to 65747. USPS would be best for me.

Thanks, Ed

I got my mirrors off and put them back the same as they were. I have the heated mirrors and the wires won't reach if they are flipped top to bottom side to side in the tow position. If you switch and keep them bottom to bottom in the tow position, the bubble ends up in the lower outside in the normal position... which I don't want. Also, in the normal position, the top has a slight curve and the bottom is flat but I think nobody would notice.

Now that I know how they're attached, I can make the switch in about 10-15 minutes and I'm pretty slow. The mirror is mounted on a plastic plate which is held to the 3-4" round mounting that moves for adjustment. There is a wire clip that goes around the mounting. Just release both ends of the clip and wiggle them loose and the mirror comes off (don't drop it). Both ends of the clip can be seen with the mirror in the tow position and tilted all the way out. The clip is latched on the cab side. I used a small flashlight.

To install, latch the clip and snap the mirror back on.
