installing reese 5th wheel rails

Ed, I have never seen that style of mirror at Wally-World... only in trailer supply shops. They have always worked just fine for me!

My salesman threw a pair in I bought the trailer. I think they were right at $25. 00. The one on the right sometimes get out of adjustment, when the wife wakes up from her nap I just ask her to readjust it and I am good to go.

Camping World has clip for about $12 each and slide on for about $22 each. I'm using the slide ones while I wait for the electric/heated versions to come out.

Genos has some, and I have been told they are better than the rest of what's available out there.

Does anybody have a suggestion for tow mirrors that attach to the stock mirrors. I am holding out for tow mirrors that have power and heat, but I need something to clip on the mirrors for now.

Location, (ie. WalMart), price, brand and model name.

Thanks,
Ed

I messed with those slide on jobs for a couple years, never could see very well with them. Then I bought the MeKesh mirrors from Hensley. They slide into the door/window opening and have a leg, that rests on the middle of the door, and a strap that hooks on the bottom of the door. best towing mirrors I have ever had. No more vibration then the factory mirrors, and there easy to put on and off. I was kind of hessatint about using clamp on mirrors, but I read many replies about them on the RV news group, and tried them myself. Love them.
Of course, there not heated or electric adjust, I just get the wife to lean out and move them. After I reinstall them, they will still be in the same adjustment place as last time, and don't need to be changed.

Plus you can adjust them in or out to the point that you will not fit through the toll booths!

Been using the slide on from camping world since '94. Had them on my Chevy, now on my Ram (same set). Towed 26' and now a 29' 5ver. I get more vibration in the slide on mirrors than I do from the stock mirror, but as long as I'm looking for large objects (such as other vehicles), they are OK. At night, the vibration can cause the headlights to appear like UFOs jumping all around, you think your in the twilite zone! My preference is to go with the Magna but I'm waiting for the heated version.

I have the Geno's slide on, they vibrate badly and don't stay in adjustment very well. Sure wish someone would design a quality slide on. I'd easily pay double than what I paid Geno's.

I maybe wrong, won't be the first time, but I don't think it is possible to make a slide on or clip on type mirror that will not vibrate so badly at speed as to make it nearly useless. I tried them before, then used after market door mounted trailer mirrors and both vibrated badly. I now have Power Visions which hardly vibrates at all at full extension and no vibration at 3/4 or less. These mirrors will extend 6 inches, about 1. 5 inches more than the Magnas, although I think the extension of the Magnas would be more than adequate for towing. I normally use my mirrors at 2/3 extension and can see fine around my flatbed headboard. Those with standard pickup beds will see even better. These mirrors are not heated, but I don't need heated mirrors.

I used the Genos on my 99 and they were OK. I got he factory flip ups and they are awesome. I would sell you my Genos for 20 bucks if you are interersted.

TowPro, where can we get the MeKesh? DO you have a link to Hensley? Thanks!

I second the opinion about the McKesh mirrors. I tried 2-3 clipon mirrors and they never did work well. Too much vibration. I bought the McKesh and love them. The mirror is rectangular and they mount horizontally. I made another bracket and mounted the mirror vertically. I just like them better that way. I bought them at a local RV place. Highly recommended.

Another McKesh Tow mirror endorsement.
I used the slip over type once, found them completely useless, bought the McKesh mirrors and have been a happy tower since.

I spent about $200 and tried about everything available. If anyone wants a set of McKesh, I've got a set in the box.
Finally bought a set of Powervision, and have been very happy since. Should have just bought them in the beginning and saved a bunch of $$.

I have "powervision" mirrors on mine. They are great. Push a button they extend, push and they retract. . Are cosly, but if you decided to go with full power, they are the way to go.

When I ordered my 2001 I had the trailer towing mirror package add on. I think there great. I pull A 35ft 5'er and I can see everything. I like the trailer tow mirrors better than the clip-on. When you on hook the trailer you just fold them down or just leave them up. If you would like to switch from power/heated mirrors you can, but you need to reinforce the tow mirrors with a metal bracket. Good luck.

Ed-try ktsales.com. I have had these mirrors for both my dodge and for a chevy. I would reccomend them to anybody, fit real nice and hold real good... .

For you guys with McKesh:

Does the top clip have any affect on the window moulding - does it stretch it or chew it up? Can the window go up and down without getting scratched with the mirror on the door? Any paint scratches from the straps or the bottom clip?

Thanks
