Tow rating of the 48re

Does anyone know what the maximum tow rating is for the 'new' automatic. If it is beefed up shouldn't it be able to tow more than the 9500 of the old transmission.

I don't know about the 4x2's or the 2500 but for a 3500 like I ordered (see sig) the tow rating is 14,000 lbs for the 3. 73 and 16,000 lbs for the 4. 10.

Grossly Under-rated!!!!!!!

I think those figures are grossly under rated. I tow for a living and my trailer alone weighs in at 8000lbs..... so I tow regularly between 8,000lbs and 25,000lbs. Truck specs are in sig. 47RE transmission.

The 48RFE is rated the same as the 6spd transmission. The rating are very Conservative. GT

The 14,000 and 16, 000 lbs are just the trailer weight, not the gross combined weight.
