Just wondering if the new improved 48RE auto increased the tow ratings over the 47RE. My next 5er will be pushing the limits, so it would be nice to gain another 1000# or more over the early 2003 published tow ratings (47re?). Anyone know them or know where I can get the newest ratings?

Thanx,

Joe

Almost my turn to order Oo.

Unless I read it wrong, the Dodge towing guide says GCVW of 23000 for 3500 QC LB with HO and 48RE. Here is what the website towing guide lists:

With 4. 1 Axle Ratio You Can Tow 15500 lbs2

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) = 12000 lbs

Payload = 4660 lbs1

Curb Weight = 7343 lbs

Curb Weight Front/Rear = 4306 / 3038 lbs

GAWR Front/Rear = 5200 / 9350 lbs

Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) = 23000 lbs

No, Bob, you didn't read it wrong but you forgot to mention that, for the 23K GCWR, the 4. 10 gears are required.

3. 73s only get a 21,000 pound GCWR.

Thanx Guys.

Just go to the Dodge website and click on "Towing Guide" and fill in the blanks...

Just purchased an 03. With the 48re and 3. 73 gears the GCVW is 21000. With 4. 10 gear is goes upto 23000. 6 speed should add some but Im not sure.
