Will I hurt my transmission if I tow my 8K lb boat in florida 400 miles not using Tow/haul?

Just keep the rpm's up. Don't lug it. I assume you have low miles on the '04. The trans shouldn't be worn out yet.

I would run with OD off, at least until you get up to speed and rolling along fine. Like Torque says keep the RPM up, at least when accelerating.
