I'm planning a two week vacation in which I would like to visit old friends & service buddies in N. CA. & WA. I would like to tow my 25' TT with my '03 QC. I would like to pick-up Hwy. 101 around Eureka & Arcata, CA. & go up the coastline to Edmonds, WA. , just N. of Seattle.

I've been on Hwy. 1 in S. CA. in a car & don't think I'd want to tow a TT on that road. I was wondering if towing a TT on Hwy. 101 is a hassle & not worth doing. If so, I'll just take I-5, which, I've done a couple of times in the past. 101 may be more interesting.

In early Oct. , is it worth taking 101 that loops around Olympic Nat'l. Park? Or, am I better off just bypassing the Park near Aberdeen & heading over to I-5 & on up to the Seattle area?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm aware of the strong possibility of rain at that time of the year. I was stationed at McChord AFB for 2-1/2 years in the middle 60's.

Thanks.

We travel 101 from Bremerton to Florence multiple times per year with our toyhauler 21'. It is not a problem to travel 101. It is a nice low stress drive to me.

There are some good turns and hills but nothin that the cummins can't handle with gusto.

You can go up and around the Oly park, but don't take the ferry back to Seattle. Drive around Tacoma, have money for the toll bridge at the Tacoma Narrows.

Good luck and happy trails.

Like JBallou says. It is a beautiful ride & sometimes can be a little slow with traffic but well worth it. We pull our 32ft trailer up 101 a lot of the time.

You will not have a problem towing this route. We have done most of it with the 5th wheel. That being said how much tine do you want to spend "visiting" and how much time driving?? If I only had 2 weeks for this trip and wanted to "visit" I would go I-5. We are going back South in a week and it is going to take 3 1/2 weeks to get home going down I-5 and "visiting" on our way.

Just my $. 02:)

I just made that same trip. I did go around the Olympic Peninsula. As stated above if your going to visit take I 5,if you want to see the redwoods and the Oregon coast maybe hit 101 at Arcata and head up the coast for a few days then cut back to I5 near Portland... . if you haven't seen that coastal country you should. We too were going to vist friends in Granite Falls And Edmonds but the trip around the peninsula took too long we never got north of Seatle. Have a good trip!
