torklift with a sway bar

I've got an '04 2500 4x4, QCSB, CTD with 6-speed, 35's and no lift. I've seen one person that is towing a 5'er with my same set-up (unfortunately I can't find him again). Is there anyone else out there with this set-up? And is there anything I need to do to make it safe for my truck when hitting dips and rolls?

Thanks,

Just make sure you have enough clearance between the trailer and bed rails. I've seen alot of trucks with crinkled bed rails. But, you also don't want to have the nose of the trailer too high.

35" tires are a little big for towing... what a lot of people do in these cases is to have the trailer jacked up (axle flip) so that th bottom of the trailer is level with the bed rails... .

To avoid the cost and the unstable and ugliness of having the trailer jacked, you might want to consider going back to 33" or there abouts... My 245 70R 19. 5" Michelins are about 33" and they are very stable, pretty aggressive tread, and the trailer is level when towing.

I'd thought about getting a set of stock tires. I've already got spare rims. I'm a Hatteras fan, so I like having my 35's for riding the beach (and looks). Right now, it looks like I'm riding about 1" to 1-1/2" taller than stock in the tail end. I guess if I find the right trailer, and its close enough, I could swap larger tires onto the trailer instead of the axle flip. I don't want to make it too top heavy either.

Yeah... I want my cake and eat it too.

I run 35's with a 2 inch leveling kit and airbagged rear end. No problems if you find the right trailer. I have a Rampage by Skyline RV and no axle flip or mods were needed. Been in some pretty rough offset areas of our desert and not one issue, O YA a slider hitch is mandatory if you have a shortbed...

P. S. this was takin BEFORE airbags...

Good or bad, I think we've settled on a TT instead of a 5'er. We like the floorplan of this one more than the 5'ers we've seen. Plus this way I don't have to juggle moving my cap on and off.

We'll probably be picking up a Crossroads Cruiser CT32SB. Works for me, the misses, and the 16mo old.

Thanks for ya'll's help.

Next is a jake brake of some type. Banks version is freakin' expensive, but I don't know if I've limited myself by installing their 4" exhaust.

Since you are getting a TT, don't skimp on the WD hitch...

I have 1 suggestion to use and I am talking from buying, using, and swear by it. .

The Hensley Hitch...

www.hensleymfg.com ... .

go to the website and get the free video... . Trust me if you want to have NO sway acocciated with TT's, get the hensley and you will have a TT that tows like a 5th wheel.

This hitch does not use friction sliders for antisway... . but uses an ingenious pivoting system that when you are straight, things like wind and such do not make the pivot work... . Only by the truck itself, turning a bit, does it make an angle for following the turn... .

Whn you visit the site and see the price you may balk... . but think about it, one bad gust or sway at speed will wreck both truck and trailer... . So I figured 10 % of the cost of the trailer being the hitch is well worth it.

That looks cool, thanks.

Height

How does the Hensley Hitch react to taller trucks. I can't find a picture of one that is attached to a large drop? Am I just not seeing something correctly, or will there be a problem with that?

Nevermind, I found the section on the order page where it asks how much drop you need. Course I'd have to figure that one out myself.
